Arguing about play in the RF cranks sounds similar to people bitching about the Truvativ Howitzer interface- it works, but requires more attention to detail than other systems, hence why it seems to work fine for some, and not work at all for others.
So, if your attention to detail is on par with the average salesman, you probably need to stick to gorilla-proof parts.
I worked at a ridiculously high end shop for a while. My attention to detail is quite high. I even line up all the Cs on cinelli bar tape

Hopefully RaceFace will publish some info on what exactly the EXI system is, despite how much fun it is to argue about it on the internet.
EXI has been out for a while. Nothing new. Several RF's cranks implements that interface already.

EXI has ISIS like splined crank to spindle interface. X-type spindle splines are different. Bearings are intechangeable, EXI or X-type, same BB will do. Both have similar washer preload adjustments. EXI interface has sort of cone like spindle end, X-types spindle end is more like equal of diameter at the end.

the EXI is very very similar to the TV system, but on the RF system you have those 2 thin spacers you can add-subtract to dial in the system's tightness.

you can easily chuck those spacers and add spacers to the non-drive side BB cup of the correct width if the thin dudes harsh your pedaling mellow.

the ISIS spindle system was superior to x-type for sure. never had an issue in 5+ years on my DH bike. stoked on the EXI system.
