Dear Plattekill Friends,

THANK YOU to everyone who has expressed concern about Plattekill and our communities. It has been an unbelievably devasting past few days since the hurricane hit Saturday night. The water table levels rose so fast EVERYWHERE with flashflooding that you were either in its path or not. And, if you were, everything was destroyed. Plattekill Mountain and Roxbury, through an act of God, were not nearly hit as hard as some of our neighboring towns literally just 10-20 miles away that basically have been wiped out. We have been truely blessed.

Plattekill wants to help anyone in need or anyone you know of who needs help, free of charge, with flood cleanup, excavation, dump truck trash removal and debris cleanup, dry ice and water delivery and shelter. We are without power, so please do not call, we are reachable via email at info@plattekill.com and on facebook and urge those in need to contact us, please.

If you would like to help our communities, here are some sites to consider visiting for more information about what is happening here and how to help:

Diablo is down. Being a diablo local, The situation is the drainage damage was severe. A pipe exploded a couple weeks ago and backed up an underground river. the river washed out the fireroad, end of breakout 11 and greenhorn. those trails went under repairs a week ago. from what it sounds like the stream has backed up again and requirews heavy machinary. diablos been closed- sunday-sunday and WPFG are cancelled

Diablo has a 20 Foot deep crater running down the mtn that interferes with the lift

That said, im 100% sure they are doing everything they can to fix it

Cough Jiminy... cough Peak... cough... 25.50 lift tickets... cough cough... rad trails! cough

There are other places to ride too!
Dennis, When are you coming? If you ever rode here you'd be saying " Cough cough, Whiteface!"

Whiteface is pretty close to all in eastern NY.

Cough cough $47.25 for a nice room, breakfast and your lift ticket!

Jiminy is great too. Just a friendly reminder that there is big mountain riding in NY State that offers 20+ minute runs in one of the nicest surroundings anywhere.

As of 10am still no power @ mtn. Crews are working. If fixed by Sat, Sun or Mon, we will post opening status on FB. Most roads passable. Most terrain open on mtn. If you have bike reservations this wknd, whether open or not, we will not charge for no-show. To transfer reservations to another weekend, email or call next week once power fully restored.
THANKS again for thoughts and well wishes for our area...

I talked to the guys at Jiminy Peak today, only 1 side of the mountain will be open (the not so steep side). They do not have a paid trail crew unfortunately but they will be out there in the mornings cutting down trees on the left side of the mountain. Take that into consideration if your heading out to JP this weekend.

What that means is don't go to Jiminy to ride but please, for the scene, go there and help.

Dennis, the mountain is insane. In a way alot of gullies would be sick to ride down but the only problem is the snow gun pipes that run through about 3-4 feet off the ground.

But, thankfully the major trails only have "minor run-off issues".

The Whiteface Mountain Bike would like to thank all that came out today. It was great!

Ladies day was obvious on the mountain with 21% of today's riders being female. Weather forecast said 40% chance for heavy rain. No rain today!

Lots of peeps are sticking around, so Sunday looks to be a big day at the big mountain too!

Thanks!
