Was riding my DH bike today, First time with on a new set of saint brakes.
I really like the Responds to the touch of the rear brake,
but the front is just too powerful... and making me really slow and I feel like Its really stopes the bike
was riding elixir cr for the last two years, so I'm used to pull the brakes and keep riding (like ABS in car brakes)
so I like the rear brake, but I want the front to be less powerful...
is there a way to do that to the front saint brake?
Changing pads maybe? (to what compound?..)

Thanks

smaller disc, use a 180 instead of a 203 ? use organic pads over sintered.. etc

You'll probably get used to it. I had a hard time the first time I rode them too (granted that was in pouring rain so there was no traction to begin with). If you're still thinking they're too much after a couple rides just get a smaller rotor.

get used to them. You'll appreciate them after learning how to use them.

or put organic pads in, that cuts down on strength alot

Try playing with the settings, pad contact, throw, stroke, etc...

I love my saints. I too went from Elixir CR's to Saint 810's and said, wow these are waayy strong. After some adjustments and learning how to modulate with the servo wave design, I'm never going back to the CR's again. Saint and servo wave FTW.

You will get used to them, having too much power and not using it is better than not having enough. It sounds from your post like you may be dragging the front brake, practice feathering it.

Funny. I thought organic pads were actually STRONGER than sintered. At least they were when I ran Codes. This was 5yrs ago, so maybe that's not the case anymore??

It takes a couple/few good rides to really get adjusted to the power the Saints provide. Once you get past that point, it's all good!

Hang on a minute...WHAT ? Are you saying you like to drag your brakes or to pump them? (like an ABS system) Either way this is not a good way to use your brakes on a bike.Brake harder , later and less...

Like others have said, learn how to brake and get used to them...Going with a different rotor or compound does make a SMALL difference but those brakes are what they are...awesome KICK ASS POWER brakes

I don't drag my brakes
but on steep parts of the trails, I use the brakes longer than usual
so now I'm confused ...
organic or sintered ?

If you buy a powerful brake and make it less powerful, you might as well have bought a lighter and weaker brake (or not bought anything at all).

Like others have said, learn how to use the power - you can ride faster, brake less, and brake later. Keep the stock pads, keep the stock discs. Also, shimano organic pads suck.

I purposely spray my brakes with brake cleaner every week or so just to get that "too powerful" feeling. You want brakes that are strong enough to send you over the front if you clamp down strong. The smaller the effort into controlling your bike the more relaxed and faster you will be. Stronger brakes = faster riding. Every time.

Brake less often with them. They'll slow you down a lot faster and you can ride with better traction the rest of the time.

i'll give them some more time.
maybe i'll get used to it...
Just do that. :)

The other thing is, after you use the brakes for a month or so (and a few long runs), they will glaze a little and won't be as crazy powerful as they are. Once you get used to them you'll like them I think.

Like others said, you will get use to it. It'll teach you how to brake properly and not grab a hand full of brake. Since im on saint now, i HATE the elixir cr on my trail bike.

I've got some calipers off an old huffy.

srsly, I love my brakes. Even with a bad bleed they are light years ahead of my old hopes, and have better feel and modulation than my old gustavs. Eat a cheeseburger, break them in, and maybe consider something like alligator rotors or smaller rotors if it's really a concern. I have alligator (non-stock) rotors and I have plenty of power, but not so much that I feel like I'm gonna die. They're great.
