I think the combo of Warner and Paige yelling and the riding of Danny Hart made that 4 minutes unforgettable.
The moment he threw the whip - my jaw fell on the floor. Warner and Paige went absolutely nuts in that moment.

I'd love to see those two going crazy during his run.
Is there some material of that?

Quote from Warner:
"How can he sit down with balls that big?!" :D

Danny Hartball

So... should we be expecting to see DirtTV vids, Tri-Ride, and team vids, or did the UCI put the hammer down on all of that? It would be a real shame if the best race of the season just disappeared off the radar.

Mike King had won 2 or 3 DS nationals before his DH win in Metabief '93
Not only had Mike King not won a DH world cup before his worlds win, King had not even seen a top 10 in any DH's...he was actually an awful DHer before he won the worlds...but he rose to the occasion, signed a deal with GT, moved to france and trained with Nico, and became one of the USA's best DHers during his career.
Respect the rainbow.

Tri ride wasn tthere and the UCi put the smack down on any team not willing to pony up 800 euro.

I'm beginning to think Sam Hill's '07 run there became much less relevant. It was merely a 3rd place run. Whoop-ty-doo. ;)

So, 2+ days on since the race and I'm still trying to fathom Hart's run. He basically just threw a no-hitter/perfect game AND hit the game-winning homer in the bottom of the ninth in Game 7 of the World Series.

As mentioned earlier, seeing most of the other big guns looking rather mortal really drives the point home of how wicked-spectacular that run really was. Plus, you get to see Ratboy's reaction as he hopelessly watches his bike launch into the woods waaaaaaay below. He's so damn close to breaking-out as well.
2012 is going to be a freaking slugfest!!! :D

I find it funny how people on rm claim Warner is bad for the general public while the reddit nerds seem to love him and page ;)

Thanks to a Freecaster clip, downhill is receiving more coverage than it has in many years. Will the UCI take notice and leverage the media coverage?

(Yeah, the UCI should definitely gouge Freecaster for broadcast rights next year. Idiots.)

Unfortunately Good Ol' Boy networks usually entail a lack of of progressive and intelligent thought and understanding of the acronym ROI.

And the clip linked above has already been removed. Lame. I paid for the coverage on Sunday. At this point, I personally would have no problem with this being free. People have to see it!

Whoa. Hill's run in Champerey is still the most bad ass run yet. Why? Because everyone else would have quit as soon as the rain came down. Hill flipped like a fish down a bank and still pinned it to near infamy!

Watch the feed again and see how many of the world's best, all dealing with the exact same conditions, cashed in their chips after a mistake and backed off throttle.

Hill's run will always be a classic because he got faster in a downpour no other top guys had to ride even with a wreck.

If you race, you know how amazing what he did was compared to any other DH run we've seen.

Can't really compare them can you? Everyone came down in the sh*tfest last week & DH held it together & smashed everyone.

Hill came down in the sh*tfest in '07 and put what, 45 seconds into his closest like for like conditions competitor from memory & within a couple of seconds of the winning dry time, with an off the bike crash.

Both awesome achievements, but not really comparable. The track is barely comparable now either.

Exactly.

I still think Hill's VDS run was the most insane ride ever. Crash or no crash.

Of note, anyone watch the Minnar/Hill head to head of 2011 champs? Hill seemed to fade a little by the end as he was quite a bit in front of Greg untill the lower third of the course. I think once he's got full strength back he'll be back in form.

Also Hill rode on a harder track. I remember Ben posting up the changes for the 2nd world cup and the early version of that track was even harder than it is now.

Whoa!

Anywho, I tried to forward the link of the Danny Hart Run from FC to some non-DH/mtb peeps, and FC wants to charge those peeps to watch a 3minute clip. WTF?!

This is one easy way to gain exposure to the sport, to FC and to the UCI! And maybe get some much needed sponsorship $$$$$. But no, they want to make money on the short term and eff themselves on the longterm.....IMO anyway.

You would think that people who's reputation and exposure increases purely by word of mouth and viral internet culture would understand that, but they don't, LOL.

The expression of second place is fastest loser applies pretty well with Danny's run.

NORCAL is the hizzle
alas, more often than not the response seems to be of the ilk how can someone go so ape**** over the silly pseudo sport of riding bicycles down a mountain, but yeah.
I think it's at least in part because Hart made it look so damn easy.

I've watched that run a bunch of times and it just kills me every time. Funny how the kid with a rep for riding on (or over) the edge of control seemed so poised and comfortable in nasty conditions on a gnarly track. If he can find that zone again, he will keep winning.

Anyone else notice how being relatively small and light like Hart and Brosnan seems to really help in the slop? Not to take anything away from their skill, but heavier guys seemed to carry their momentum right off the track. Interesting how extra pounds can help or hurt, depending on the track and conditions. Simple physics I guess.

Would you like to pay Freecaster's expenses?.
That's cool and all but my customers don't give a **** about my overhead, either. The (in)ability of FC to afford the costs of doing business is their responsibility alone.

Freecaster needs to get their act together and get some funding.
Whether that comes from charging viewers (um, maybe add a name change to the to-do list), generating some real advertising income off the site or getting outside sponsors is irrelevant but they clearly are a failed business model at this point.

I paid just to watch the replay (over and over and over again) because FC does deliver a quality product., rape jokes and all. Sadly, there's no shortage of cool products/companies that have gone tits up due to poor management and/or a weak business plan.

Hadn't thought of the weight/momentum but figured the smaller guys with smaller bikes were able to rail them around those switch backs much faster with more room for error. If memory serves, Nico was a small guy too, for a while over the past decade many courses fit the taller guys like Peaty and Minaar but this course looks to me like the smaller guys have the advantage with or without mud. Brosnan and Hart together probably don't weigh as much as Chris Kovarik or Nathan Rennie.

It's more the gradient of that course than the mud and switchbacks that give the light guys an advantage there. It is pretty ridiculous.
If you've not been there it's not so easy to comprehend how big that gradient is. Even Freecasters excellent footage cannot fully portray it.

Danny Hart completely ripped down that course and it actually blew my mind watching it.

Another Brit showing the World how to ride a bike. Like it.
