Who watches this show? I got addicted over the winter after watching them film at the ho'tel up the skreet from my place in downtown ABQ.

Loved watching Seasons 1-3 on BluRay, each season topping the first, and now Season 4 is kicking ass.

Any other BrBa fans?

A casual one I guess. Watched seasons 1-3, haven't gotten past that yet. I should.

Anyway to the point...very good television. The cinematography is especially good. The plot is a bit convoluted and the only character I think who's really well drawn is Hank. Other than that, well edited, well acted and a good script. Recommended. Downloaded.

OK, so I got season 1 and watched the first episode and a half. Holy hell, pretty damn interesting, I must say. I need to slice out some couch time to finish the first season, but damn it looks a hell of a lot better than I gave it credit for.

Kinda like Falling Down with meth. The dude was f'ed from the start.

I freakin love the BrBa. I'm a chemistry nerd, so that's and added bonus. I thought last nights episode was fantastic. Really curious how they finish out the season with Walt being in the pickle he's in now.

That show really makes me wish I had been better at chemistry.

Let's just say there are new techniques to make lab grade stuff in a 2 liter bottle with ingredients most people either have in their house or could easily purchase. The hardest part (just like in the show), is getting psuedoephedrine, which is why most people pay others to steal it. The actual conversion process is pretty simple and can be done in a single vessel.

you cannot make lab grade meth in a 2-liter bottle with household ingredients

Labs are almost non-existent, at least around here. Super labs in Mexico can make sh!t tons of 98% pure. Even in the cleanest labs in the states, the closest they came was 96%. It's no longer cost effective. Even meth production has been outsourced to Mexico.

<edit> Mexico gets the raw psuedo from India in mass quantity, then smuggles in finished product.

and to think you can make anything 96-98% pure from a coke bottle is naive

Look like BrBa will end with season 6 (not 5). Great news.

This show just keeps getting better and better and better.

Awesome news!! Been a fan since season 1.

I just watched this weeks episode last night and I didn't see how they were going to not end the entire show in the next episode. Walt is in a real pickle.

I doubt they will kill off Gus. Maybe Mike... Maybe Saul... Maybe even Hank... No way Jesse, Walt, Skyler, Walt Jr or the baby though.

So you're a chemist now?
nope, just know some meth heads. are you a chemist?
if you could achieve the same level of quality from a coke bottle as you can from a lab, then people wouldnt "waste" their money on labs for any type of chemical manufacturing. ill send this info to my friends at Pfizer. they could learn something from this

When I went the the BPD citizens academy, we had an extensive course on meth and labs. The agent teaching the course said they made some in a clean room environment and could barely get 95%.

It was a combination of the super meth from Mexico and Oregon passing the law putting cold meds behind the counter and limiting sales. Labs in the area went from 82 labs down to 4 in a year. It's just not worth the risk and effort.

I am up to episode 5 of season 1. Totally sucked in at this point. I nearly lost it last night when Emilio soaked through the tub. :bad:

Wow, last episode was really well done. Especially that last scene.

Walt's going to have to get hardcore again to save his family. I don't see a way out unless he either takes out Gus, or takes Jesse out of the picture somehow. That way he can get back to being the only guy that can cook his formula.

Though, I'm sure Jesse will come around to remember that he hates Gus. He's fired up his relationship with the girl whose kid brother was involved with Gus... that's bound to play back in.

Obviously, higher purity gets exponentially harder. With the average purity being about 70%, it's not hard to do better than that. The biggest problem with obtaining high yields with higher purity....is that you have meth heads cooking it. And yes, I'm a chemist.

Back on topic, Walt is so screwed at this point, I think he is going to be forced to do something drastic. They can't just let him call the cleaner and disappear for good with his family for good.

Good point... I'm going to take back what I said about them getting rid of Gus. Walt seems to get himself in deeper and deeper every season. Now that the cartel is kaput (dead), and Gus is kind of top dog, maybe he gets rid of Gus and then takes over as the new head honcho.

Still though, I would think that Jesse and the whole White family will be safe.
