I got a Banshee scythe with the rear axle being a maxel. This is the first generation of the Maxel, not the lite. I read about the new maxel's braking Hope pro hubs, which I have. Is there any alternatives to replace the Maxel. Drilling is not a option. I read a morewood rear axel works, but not confirmed.

Yeah I read this also. Have you tried this or seen this done, just to out my mind at ease before I spend money on a axel belonging to a different frame.

My maxle light broke my DT 440, but I got it replaced, no biggy. The old maxle DOESNT have the problem the maxle light does. The 2012 Maxle Light however comes revamped to prevent this, ie: it isnt tappered.

How is the first gen maxle breaking hubs vs. other axles?
The center section of the old maxle is tapered, some hubs needs to have bearing support (hub center section support also) on that area which the old Maxle doesn't provide. I am not sure if there was also flexing issue, and part of the reason that some hubs brokes is flex of the maxle.

Thanks that's good to know. It's the first I heard of that. I have the first Gen of the maxel with the hope pro hubs and no breaking of the hubs. Looks like I will go with the morewood axel, cheaper than the maxel.

I know its a common thing for the maxels to snap in the centre of the hub but has anyone seen them fail at both sides of the hub? were the frame and hub meet.
