This is going to sound real dumb.. but i recently bought a 450lb 2.80 spring for my 2010 dhx RC4. The shock originally came with a 500lb 2.80 length. However i found out after the fact its from a 09 dhx 4.0 I noticed the spring itself is slightly shorter than my 500spring. is this normal? I just havent ever had to swap springs so thats why i was wondering if because of the smaller weight it would be physically shorter... again yeah stupid question. JW thanks.

A lighter spring will be made from smaller diameter wire, so for the same amount of spring travel (2.8"), the lighter spring would have to be shorter assuming the #of coils per unit length are the same for both springs.

dave is pretty much right. smaller diameter coils so they can compress closer together, therefore a shorter overall length will still get 2.8in of travel.
