Sammie - Lab (female/2 years in March). She is quite possibly the laziest Lab I've met.

I don't have a dog, but she trumps any dog that any of you own. A dog in cats clothing.

And her sister.

Rescued both from the same litter. Both 8 years old and my life would suck without them. Their names, White One and Black One.

Siberian Huskies are one of my favorite breeds. We considered getting one, but summers here are way too hot for them.
We have some pretty nasty days in July/August, high humidity, temps in the 90's, she takes it in stride. She's obviously at her best when it is cooler, but the heat doesn't seem to bother her nearly as much as I had thought that i would.

Oh, and this girl cost me $500 yesterday. I had put some rat poison down inside the wall next to her dog door. She had pried apart the two sides of the doggie door and got the poison. Luckily I caught her eating it so I rushed her to the local emergency vet. $500 for a shot to induce vomiting, another to stop it, some activated charcoal and some Vitamin K pills. What a scam!! At least she is ok though. I tried the finger down the threat thing, but that does not seem to work on dogs. ;)

FWIW, my Mom's beagle ate about a pound of chocolate fudge one Christmas eve. It was late, so we called the vet and they had us feed her a little hydrogen peroxide. Made her puke all of it up and she was fine. Not sure if I would try it with rat poison, but for large ammounts of chocolate or other foods that can make dogs sick, I thought it was a cool trick.

The rat poison was inside the wall of our garage. She had to actually pry apart the two sides of the framing of her dog door to get to it. And this is a dog that can be trusted with all kinds of food.

I can leave her in our family room over night with an open box of cookies on the couch and she would never think of going after them. I can leave an open bag of chips on the floor less than 4 feet from her bed and go pay bills or take a dump and she would never try to eat them.
