saw it last night. soooo sick. it is very similar to the theme of fallout, but not the same (similar: post apocalyptic, lone hero, etc.)
there are a lot of different messages underlying the main point of the film (not going to spoil anything) and it is really powerful. a definite must-see if you are into this genre of films/stories.

Or figure it out coming out of the movie. Do you really need someone else to tell you that the movie that you just saw was any good or not?

Saw it yesterday, liked it a lot.

i can't wait for the remake of Clash of the Titans too. The trailer for it looked awesome. It was missing the owl though.

Saw it Saturday night. I really, really enjoyed it. It was just vague enough to almost have a independent film vibe with a mainstream film budget.

Good casting for the most part, and a good message.

I thought this was an interesting fact:

King James Version

The 1611 Authorized Version Bible in Grade Two English Braille is contained in 18 Braille volumes and requires sixty inches of shelf space, twelve inches high, to store.

So is it a "why did God forsake us?" movie or a "It would be cool if God used shotguns" movie or a "there is no God, just guns" movie? usually Hollywood picks one of the 3. Last resort is always "It was all just a terrible dream". Wizard of Oz with a full clip?

Just watched it. It was a decent story but the entire thing right up to the end was very predictable. I definitely liked this a bit more than most Denzel Washington movies.

am i crazy to think he was better in that than he was in training day?
Yes, you are in fact crazy. Training Day was his best movie. Mostly because of the supporting roll played by his juiced Monte Carlo.

<edit> Had there been a juiced Regal Limited, it might have been better.

I thought it was a giant turd. Like a cheapened version of the Road but with bigger actors. I really want my money back.

I didn't like the underlying tones that without the bible the world turns to ****. But that's me. At first I thought the entire movie was going to be a slam on how weak people find guidance in the bible. The action was cool, and Mila Kunis is always worth watching.

It did not make the save-to-my-hard-drive-to-keep-it-forever cut.

BTW, I hate Book of Eli, but not because of Denzel. He was very good in it, like most of his pics.

Even though I love Training Day, his best movie is Malcolm X. He went from a slick hustler to angry prisoner to righteous religious leader.

I watched this before reading 'The Road' and thought it was pretty good. After reading the book, I agree with the above comments. Did they make a movie of 'The Road'?

Goddammit you mods deleted that spam post that brought this thread back from the dead?
Now my post doesnt make any sense anymore does it?
I usually delete the post after the spam for necro-threads that are bumped by the bots... but once in a while I like to leave it alone so the poster looks like an ass who dragged something unimportant out of the archives :D

Yes. With Vigo Mortensen and Naomi Watts (but not enough to ruin the movie). It's quite good though I don't know how it compares to the book. I only read his non filmed books.

I was more in line with Gary Oldman's character. Not that I would be that person, but the bible could (and has) been a powerful tool to enslave the masses. Same holds true for many other books of faith (that I won't mention for fear of some dude suicide bombing my house).

Viggo was the only choice to play the father. He is a survivor, not a fighter. Most of the time, he and his son are walking and hiding.

Think about Book Of Eli again. Imagine the medical problems, much less how you would look, if you didn't take a shower for 6 months.

While the book goes in depth, Viggo is able to convey the pain of surviving the apocalypse.

P.S. The woman was Charlize Theron.

They did make it, but I did not feel that it was as good as the book. There's a certain amount of suspense that was lost from the book to the movie, but it was a fairly accurate representation. It's tough, the basement scene took forever in the book, I feel like it lasted seconds in the movie. Same with the bunker. I think it'd be worth seeing if you read the book, but not the other way around.
