buy from amish_matt, if you don't care about that kinda stuff then disregard.

So far amish_matt has been the main supplier of bike stuff for my 6 yr old  (a bike, now a fork and some other misc parts)

Thanks again matt, got the fork, bars and chainrings yesterday. As usually everything could have made it through world war 3 with out getting damaged.

pics? i'm curious as to what he's doing.
well I bought a bike from him almost 2 years ago now for my son. It was completely wrapped in old paper towel rolls, taped in place, then boxed, and supported in place in a few spots, and then completely filled with packaging peanuts. It was almost like factory packaging/dunnage, I mean he took the time to make sure that the bike arrived in good conidtion.

As for the fork no pics, I already unpacked but it was in a box for a fork, also completely wrapped/protected, mounted inside the box, zip tied in place, etc. Same for the bars, completely wrapped, zip tied down, etc. The grips and chain rings were zip tied in place, and then the box had 3 rolls of packaging tape keeping it shut.

He does a better job then some of the online businesses I have recently ordered some stuff from.

I ordered some roadie stuff from Wiggle a while back and everything was just thrown in a box with no packing. So he does a lot better than some online companys. My Deity pedals straight from Deity are gonna be here on thursday. Maybe they'll do an Amish_Matt style job. I wouldn't want my pretty purple ano to get scratched in shipping :)

Best thing that could happen is if the box arrives loaded to the gills with packing peanuts at your work in time for you to pilfer a co-workers key fob.

Did this once (at the suggestion of my boss) when we got this gigantic printer box loaded with peanuts. It filled his civic's trunk to the brim. Apparently, he had a clue as to what was going on when he rolled his windows down and a peanut came floating by his face.

The true stroke of genius was when he opened his trunk to play tennis with a client. :D

Agreed.

It's just used bike stuff, but it's nice to see someone put some effort in.

He doesn't over do it, there is some thought behind it.
true dat.

sometimes i get creative. like the time i shipped a frame to HAB, along with a bunch of spare parts which i decided to zip tie together.

This thread sounds like kissin you're *** for rep points  :D
If I gave a **** about rep points.

There is a whole forum dedicated to ****ty sellers, I've bought from Matt twice and both experiences were good, I see nothing wrong with giving props to someone who is good on their word and ships items out with a little care, and pretty damn fast as well.

I was sure hoping this was going to be a positive thread when I saw the title!

Glad to hear everything made it there in good shape.

I tend to save a lot of packing materials and boxes to reuse when I ship things, and I always do what I can to make sure you (or any buyer) is happy with their purchase. They might just be used bike parts, but I still expect them to be clean and well packed. Hope everything works out for you, and thanks for the kind words!

I'm just kidding around dude. I definitely understand giving props where they're due.
