i have the standard 14mm axle on the front of my haro steal reserve and i want to upgrade and get new forks but the new forks i want come with a 15mm "Tool-less" thru axle is their a way to convert mine to a thru axle or do i have to change my hub as well? any insight would be super helpful.

Yeah, you'll need to lace up a new wheel if you want to keep your rim because you will need a thru axle hub. You can go with a 15mm or a 20mm axle, either will be plenty strong. You should base the decision on what fork you want (and might want in the future). Or you could just buy a complete wheel. It's definitely a drag, but if you need it, you need it.

I upgraded after my old front axle broke while landing a 18' gap (not fun). The broken axle ends marred up the cups, and the fork got pretty flexed, so I didn't quite trust it anymore.

You can offset the cost by selling your old fork and wheel.
