I had it in 2004 after riding Whistler for the 3rd week in the wet and not being able to see. It was the best thing I've ever done for myself. My riding improved ( I could see the trail coming out of fast corners all of a sudden), my vision improved to 20/15, and I didn't have to wear those black rimmed glasses anymore. All in all good.

I had the flap btw, and I went to one of the best guys in the USA. He was old and operated the machine barefoot.

well, i didn't bring it up since i didn't think it mattered for the sake of PRK v. LASIK - but when dw mentioned the barefoot thing, it reminded me of something that struck me as odd at the time, but since forgotten. my doctor operated the machine pantsless. He had a doctor coat on, but even with the lights dimmed and me half in the bag I noticed. It must be a sterile field thing. After my spinal block and the ether mask I was pretty comfortable, so I left it in his hands to just do his work. He told me the procedure normally takes three to five hours and since I was ready to go home in 90 minutes, albeit pretty groggy, I hadn't thought about it since.

FYI: The anesthetic can give you loose stools for a few days

Ah nice. I've heard of a franchise eye surgery centre that has similar hygiene standards. They usually operate off the main streets which allow them to offer such competitive prices. Think they're called Back Alley Optics or something.

Aahhahahahahaahahahaa that's priceless. Do you know how much it hurts to snarf seltzer water? I just found out.

Had mine done two years ago now. No regrets what so ever. No bad side effects or anything, just 20/15 vision now.

I was totally sketched by the idea at first, but damnit I got tired of losing a lens or getting dust in my eyes and having to pull over and work it out. Just find a reputable doc who spends the time to go over ALL the details.
