Hi guys,

I did a bit of a search but couldn't find what I was looking for. I have just upgraded from 2010 WC, and now have a brand new set of 2011 WC. I pulled the lowers off for the boxxer required, initial pre useage service, lubricated the seals with slick honey etc. Now I don't know if it was working before the service but the red rebound knob isn't working, it has no end stops. The silver one is fine. I took out the rebound dampener for a look-see but I can't see anything abnormal (without stripping the dampener)

Any idear? What did I screw? I have done this lower service many times on my 2010 and have had nothing like this happen.

Cheers

Are you sure it's engaging properly? When I took mine apart I remember there being lots of confusing pieces. Double check that they're all there. Try taking the lowers back off and installing the knobs on the damper rod. If the problem continues, it's internal to the damper....and you may have to rebuild it or double check that you didn't mess something up there. I *think* i've read about this problem before, and it ended up being an assembly error.

FWIW I had the same thing happen on my 2010, but nothing seemed to actually work on that fork.

Identical issue on my 2011 WC Boxxers, the red knob turns freely in either directions with no stops, and the clicks are kinda vague. It will be going back to SRAM soon for a warranty claim, will let you know what the issue is, but could take a while...

Btw the fork has never been taken apart, so Im thinking its a component failure or design fault??

Well I ended up going to a local bike shop, who I thought knew what they were doing, unfortunately they couldn't help either. Out of frustration I just removed/stripped the dampener myself. Once I removed the internal shaft from the dampener assembly the fault was very clear. I will post up a photo as soon as I can, but the fault was very obvious. The internal shaft was cracked at the press fit joint near the base.
