Sweet - looking forward to good racing at Pano again this year. I hope they have another BC cup weekend tied in with the CC.

Does it matter (devils advocate here)? Top result at a CC doesn't even make you fast enough to qualify for a WC (as happened last year). So why bother? Race in the States for the same cost, same amount of travel; and race against a larger and stronger field.

Edit: I race BC Cup, not Canada Cup so it really doesn't make any difference to me, just thinking out loud.

Yes, you should do this. It is a great idea.

The ski patrolers will most definitely know more about what mountain bike races are coming to Bromont this Summer.

These are only the Major Canadian races (think National level). I am sure the provincial calendars will be published once details are finalized.

If the are not UCI events (most provincial events are not) then they do not need to have their schedules finalized as early to be part of UCI calendar.

If anything this helps local promoters to plan around key dates as to not hold conflicting events.

FYI, A first place finish at a Canada Cup gets you exactly 20 UCI points.
FYI, That is ONLY if they are UCI inscribed and on the UCI schedule. Bromont is neither in 2012 I am hoping they were holding out for the DH1. The DH1 series also carried a UCI Class 2 event on Saturday. Perhaps they will pay the extra late fees and still inscribe an event. That track is my favorite race course of all time.

Dave, snoop around a bit and see what you can find out, please !

Funny you say this, because as an east coast rider i often travel north to the quebec cup series races because there are typically more riders and faster riders at these events.

Also, you mention that the race doesnt pay out many points, so whats the point. I see it as a way to get a little here, little there. so if i dont make top 5 at least i can get a few points at bromont, maybe a few at tremblant and maybe a few more at US Nationals. Got to take them all where you can get them. Besides, if you crash out at national champs, but you got 5 points at bromont for being in the top 10 or whatever, you can at least use that as an excuse to petition and say, hey, i'm pretty legit, but i had a bad race at champs, let me race in the world cup please!!!!

Quebec Cup is not Canada Cup. It may seem like that at times, but that's not the way it is.

I didn't say anything about points, i was talking about the two fastest Canadians: Mitchell and Tennant, travelling to Ft Bill and not qualifying. I.E. Being fast in Canada doesn't cut it on the world stage, so who cares who's fastest in Canada? (Again, just in case anyone missed it: from a devils advocate point of view. I race Masters and NO ONE but the racers are concerned with who's fastest).

Ummmm.... Steve Smith?

And plenty of Canadians have qualified for WC's in the past few seasons. Just because your buddies didn't make the cut doesn't mean it is pointless to race in Canada.

Competition is about improving and getting better. A racer doesn't go "**** I got beat by racer x, and racer x, didnt even qualify at Fort Bill. Why should I even care about getting better there is no sense"

That's crap

The best riders in the world rose through their provincial/regional programs and National programs.
