You've got a 14' long x 7 1/2' diameter tank to cut and size. 3/8" stainless steel

Thermal cutting is a last resort. Have a nibbler to do a lot of the work, but looking for something to cut the radius ends and some of the other areas we anticipate the nibbler will not get.

Ideas on cutting wheels/blades that may suit this application. anybody?

have a plasma good for 2 1/2" thick of cutting. For this particular job thermal is a last resort.

What can cut through your pants without even ripping them open?

A fart.

So my advice is to sit and fart on it until it complies. Video tape it, sell the tape in Japan, make money, remember me when you buy your first shipping container full of school girl prostitutes.

A 8' band saw???

3/8" SS is a bitch. Maybe a gas powered cutoff saw. I can't think if anything else mechanical that could handle that.
I have a table type bandsaw at the shop that will cut up to 14 in thick. Clamp it in the table, the arm is weighted to progress at just the right speed..... If your worried about heat buildup it has a coolant table on it as well, You can also run cutting oil in the coolant table. Be a nice clean cut when its done.

Since most dont have this at their disposal, stop by a machine shop and pay the 20 bucks.

So why is thermal cutting a last resort? Is this an old fuel tank or something?

Plasma cutting hands down. My Hypertherm would make short work of it. Heat based cutting is the way to go unless there is some compelling reason not to...

Edit: good luck gettin that in a waterjet and you would be there for a week with a sawzall.

Very high contamination levels. Can spread very far very quickly even with the application of a fixative. Plus the guys doing this will be in 2 sets of coveralls and a respirator. Working off scaffolding at some points with the 65 pound nibbler suspended by a crane hook. Also have some high dose rates to contend with.

Our plasma would make very short work of it too, and I may let them use it on some of it. Like I said before looking for a back up to the nibbler, and an alternative to the plasma. Was really hoping somebody knew of some "magic" blade for the sawzall that may work. Not having much luck anywhere with that though.

the strongest sawzall blades I can get locally are the blumol demo blades (nitro hardened). At most, I'd get through maybe 12" of 3/8" mild steel before teeth start chipping off. If I cut while using compressed air on the blade, I may get another 6" of cutting. 141" cut of 3/8" SS would probably 15-20 blades and about 4-8 hours.
