New park will be built up and run by RIDERS for RIDERS!

Just remember, there is already a bike park here at Mt. Creek. It's not like we are going to be starting from scratch. The trials need some serious work, but there is no doubt that the park can EASILY be reopened with all the existing trails. I can't see a bunch of new stuff going in the first season, as it will be spent restoring the park back to its "glory days" condition. The mountain coaster installation ran directly through some of the old trails, re-routing the bottom (riders left side of the mt.) will be challenging. Sadly Das Wall, Sram berm/table, Progression Drops, and the Greenhorn "Speed Slide" area are gone for good. That only means there will be new trails built. Have no fear little ones, you will see, DH/FR will be VERY alive and VERY well at Mt. Creek!
1. Diablo is closed, that means shawn is out
2. Mountain biking will happen at the same location next year-name not decided yet, but its NOT diablo
3. Do you like dominion and alpine? the same person that built and designed them is taking it over
4. It is already owned by mountain creek, they run the lift for "skyrides" anyway-biking will resume
5. They are aware of the neglect of trails and poor business strategy running it, the new group can fix it
6. Expect everything to be as usual.
all in good time. those of us who know can't say anything, and those officially involved aren't yet able to announce anything at this time because its not 100% a done deal (its about 99.999% from what I've been told), so just hold your horses. Bitching and moaning on the internet isn't gonna accomplish anything.

Diablo is Dead.

Long Live Downhill.

Hey, me too! <Borat> High five, very nice! </Borat>
what's even funnier, if you look at the mt creek page (not the bike park one) there's a number of people complaining that mt creek sucks for closing diablo, etc. and there's only one person liking this comments...

Talk about sour grapes.

Shawn has his finger on the button tonight. From my comment about MCBP to getting booted from the fan page was T-minus 6 minutes.

Attaboy. Make it seem like 100% of your customer base is mourning the loss of Diablo and oblivious to a new dawn on the horizon.

No disrespect, but who are you? What is your affiliation with the mountain? Your title? Your staff? Where's your website? What's your planned opening date? Talk's cheap, but a $279 season pass that is only good to wipe my arse isn't. One of the first things you should be doing is contacting each and every person that bought that season pass and bringing them out of the dark. Cryptic posts on an internet forum don't carry much weight.
Agree that it would be a smart move for the Mystery Group that is saving Mountain Creek to make a some what official announcement to counteract the negative effects of the Vital and Pinkbike releases of Diablo's comments. Otherwise when May comes along you may have more of a uphill struggle trying to convince prior customers to return.
Making moves the very next day after of the closing of Diablo, new pages are up and everything is moving forward.

I promise none of you will be disappointed.

Paraphrasing another adventurous guy, Mark Twain, “The reports of the death of mountain biking at Mountain Creek have been greatly exaggerated.”
In fact, it is the beginning of a new era. Today Mountain Creek announced that the Mountain Creek Bike Park, formerly known as Diablo Freeride Park, will open for the 2012 season on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
After a number of years of obviously eroding commitment and investment from the park ownership, Mountain Creek has taken control of the Bike Park with the intent to return to its roots and bring the passion and energy back to the only lift-served mountain biking in New Jersey.
Our commitment to our customers and the riding community is this:
• Mountain Biking will live on at Mountain Creek now and forever.
• We will rehabilitate neglected trails, including the repair of the critical section beneath the Cabriolet.
• We will make significant capital investment into trail expansion and the biking operation.
• We will establish a communication portal to collect ideas and feedback that we can incorporate into the design and operation of the Bike Park.
• We will be transparent and share our plans and answers our riders’ questions.
• We will employ innovative, progressive and professional trail design and construction techniques that will inspire and exhilarate riders of all abilities.
• We will assemble a dedicated trail maintenance crew made up of like-minded riders.
• We will expand and develop new natural terrain and environmentally sustainable downhill trails.
• We will bring new elements like the BagJump air bag, demo’d by Aaron Chase at the Red Tail Lodge Grand Opening in December.
• We will utilize our dedicated and fanatical bikers on the JibLab fabrication crew to develop new signature features.
• We will be a Bike Park run by riders for riders.
The name has changed. The commitment has changed. The mountain and the location have not.
Mountain Creek Re-Invented. Stay Tuned.

Is there any reason to 'Like' that page anymore? I doubt most people even liked it in the past years except to find out when the mountain was closed.

I wish I was still around to see the resurrection of those original trails, the trails dozens of people volunteered thousands of hours to build. Its amazing how one person could turn his back on all the people that helped him get to where he was.

This is the only post people need to read in this thread.

Making moves the very next day after of the death of Diablo, is that real enough for you?
I'm already disappointed, here I was trying to be constructive and suggest Mountain Creek or whomever needs to counter act the negative press...and now one of those people that is supposedly involved comes back at me with the above comment. Not very professional.

I am sure it will all be great .... and I wish Mountain Creek Mountain Bike Park sucess in 2012.

I was simply stating that the doubts of anyone should be cleared up with the very real actions of the lunch of the new page and website. I was in no way meant for it to sound negative. If you find it in any way offensive or negative I will delete the comment immediately. Like I said it was not meant to be negative in any way shape or from.

**I edited the comment so no one else will take it the wrong way, my apologies.

It's sad that the neglect and deterioration of the trails is mainly due to hamburglar_touch1.jpg

But all joking aside, very excited to hear about a new beginning with MCBP!
I hope everyone can breath a sigh of relief, drop the bickering (but not the teasing of Shaun), and just look forward to the rebuilding of trails, racing and community (read: beer drinking) at the hill.
