So, Sq-Earl's birthday is coming and I am thinking about getting him a new Singlespeed. He has really enjoyed abusing himself with his Kona Explosif, but I fear for it's safety these days so, what do y'all recommend?
He's thinking lighter (I like my steel SS, but he's interested in something new), not opposed to a 29er, but a 26er would be fine too. If you recommend a 29er, we'll look at whole bikes, but if it's a 26er, just the frame and I'll do the parts swap.

Hardtail,
Singlespeed
Light-weight frame
able to handle rough, technical riding & fast flow
Size medium
Won't break the bank (baby #2 on the way).
