I might have the opportunity at my work to drive a truck out to Calgary, but I will need to find a way back to Toronto.

Does anyone have any tips or secrets on getting dirt cheap flights or anything?

A little bit of information; My work has to send a truck to Calgary and they have been quoted roughly $1400 to have the truck shipped there, so being a dirt poor student I raised my hand and offered to drive it out there for much less. They will pay me a flat fee (which I am trying to calculate now) and my work will cover the gas. I'd drive it out and then have to find a way back. The fact that I'm a full time college student also has a factor on the mode of transport too. I will be doing this while my classes are going (unfortunately my reading week is next week), so it also needs to be a quick route.

The cheapest flight that I can find is $255 and a Greyhound ticket is about $150 (but takes over two days for the trip).

Any tips, tricks, secrets would be greatly appreciated!

And no, I won't thumb a ride in a truck like George Carlin.

Time is money. If you have time, it costs less money. Worst case, you from them $800 and you fly back. You still walk away up $500.

Get creative with your flight options. Got a valid passport? Try something like Calgary-Seattle-Toronto, seems nonsensical that it would be cheaper with all that back-tracking but that's the way airlines work. I don't know much about the Canadian airline industry but $255 seems over the odds to me.

The train is even more than than by plane. If i recall correctly from this morning the train was $500.

I always have trouble at the border and even got rejected onceso flying from the states to Buffalo probably wouldn't be the smartest idea haha. Its too bad there isn't some sort of site that links people together who are going across the country.

Oh yeah craigslist...That always seem like a crapshoot when I try to use that site, I'll give it a shot.

And I would stay out West if I didn't already have my next semester of college paid for in full....
