im trying to learn to bar spin and im having a little trouble catching them. any one have any helpful tips to catch them? this is where i am as of now, i wanna be able to catch them better before i try bunny hop bar spins. i wanna try to have them dialed by the end of the month.

for starters, you need to spin the bars faster. a faster spin will bring the bar right back to your hand instead of you feeling around for them...

on second look, you aren't even close to catching the bars. the bar just conveniently stops there because the tire comes back in contact with the ground...

if you watch other riders, a lot of them throw with one hand and catch with the other. In your case it would be throw with right catch with left--if your hand is there in the path of the rotating bar with your palm open the grip will just land right into it.

yep. throw with one, catch with the other. and in your case, your other/catching hand is not near your grip because you are moving it while you spin your bars.

Lift your left hand strait up, spin with your right hand. Drop your left hand/fingers down after the right grip passes under it and you'll easily catch your grip when it comes around.

Just a heads up, for me, the bars spun way different when i tried it on a dirt jump, i could rip around the streets throwing "wheelie-bars" all day long, eyes closed... once i tried to dirt, it was A HUGE difference. I got jousted and never tried again, be careful with them

get half barspins dialled then move to full ones. just throw harder with the hand you throw them with and nanosecond after you let go with the other hand. throw them as the bike is leveling out.

watch the catching hand (and note his reference to doing about a thousand wheelie practices), thats where I always snag up/fail or succeed. the catch hand goes up and out of the way quick and then back down and towards your body to a catching position. Usually, for me, once I've got the catch hand back on, my brain sort of knows where the bars are and the throwing hand can find its way back on.

but yeah... practice... and then some more practice..and then some crashing...and then some more practice etc....

All my friends told me it would be difficult, but I learned flatground barspins in like, 20 minutes. That said, I have been riding bikes forever. Hop bars are proving more difficult, and I am not getting any thanks from Minor Blackout (my bike) for dropping her repeatedly.
