Kind of a cool pic. You can clearly see the train stations on the elevated lines and yet the plane is a DC4 like the type used for the Berlin Airlift. A 50/60's era plane. That area of midtown has been populated with modern skyscrapers since the 50's. Those subway lines were put underground as a New Deal Era works project. The Tenements in the center bottom of the pic were gone by 1940. Just amazing detail also....

That pic is from 1939 is actually the DC-4E prototype...E for experimental. The DC-4E is actually larger than the production version. If you notice the tail is significantly different than the production DC-4/C-54. It is similar to the Constellation.

My wife watched here TV show all the time. Strangely enough, the chic is anything but lame in that department. Every time I walked past she was working on dude to make it happen.
I drove past that house last week after reading an article on it as well. Interesting concept. The only downside is it is very close to some frequently used railroad tracks.
