What's up guys. I'm in need of a new street ride, currently I rock my wifes 2hip bmx bike but my ankles can't take the beating any longer after braking them multiple times. I am looking to jump back on a mtb for the street. I started out on a GED broke that and went onto an Addict, sold that and went to a Commencal and have thrown a leg over a Dobermann as well as multiple 4x, downhill and bmx bikes. It also helps that I worked at a bike parts wholesaler a couple years back.

Onto my needs, I need a frame made in the U.S that shares more in common with mtb's than with bmx's. I could just choose from the multiple U.S mfg's like Tonic, BMW, S&M, Black Market, Dobermann etc... I don't do this though because I know that more of these are built for a set of dj's than the street. I'd also prefer a real U.S mfg that makes all frames in the U.S like S&M but if the MOB is the winner then so be it. This build will be complemented with most likely Hadley hubs unless it's more suitable to run bmx hubs, a front susp fork and probably 26's. Last but not least the frame has to come in at less than $800. I refuse to spend more than that on a non custom fram
e. I might throw out that I'm not one for tricks but will huck anything out there.

If I didn't have a bunch of parts that I need to use I would seriously consider that molly.

Ah yes oxymoron bikes and I could outfit it with apathy bars, snyde cranks and sarcasm pedals! What I mean is that I want a frame more like a pinscher or tonic than I do a grown bmx bike like a liquid or 38. Spc. Also, if your not offering suggestions please keep your comments to yourself as I nor do any of the other members that might find this thread helpful or important care about what you have to say.

Yeh, but some more than others. Basically what I want is the most streetable mtb. I'm looking to keep my riding to the streets and not dj's

http://www.dobermannbikes.com/en/products/streetandpark/molosse Its made completely by your friends to the north which shouldn't make a difference unless you want to completely stimulate the american economy as opposed to just having something hand made in N.A. But It is really hard to find something that is easily obtainable, hand made, and with geometry exactly as you have described.

24 or 26inch wheels
- MID bottom bracket
- 110mm x 14mm rear wheel spacing (BMX hubs)
- 1.1/8 headtube or integrated headset

and chain stays as short as some bmx frames

Yeah, I've been seriously considering the DOB, and that's probably what I'm going to end up with because they are cheap and known. The MOB is a nice frame although I've never ridden one, I'm going to have to support DoB.

Based on what I read in the original post and your responses, the needs are across the board and unrealistic. You mention the need to be more "mtb" with a sus fork, mtb hubs and 26". Than you want a more "streetable" set up. You can't blame the ill replies with that much of a switchback. The Dob has too much of a slack HA so that throws it out the door for street, even tho I seen vids of dudes killing it on street. I also seen Chase Hawk freakin it on a comfort bike with a basket even...

Wanting a USA made bike and then bitching about price is pretty lame.
Nobody who is making anything in the USA is making anything close to a decent margin.
$200 for someone who makes bikes is HUGE. For you(if you have a job) it's nothing.
I second the Doberman thing. They make custom frames silly cheap.
You want a bike for blasting gaps and hucks right?

What style of street riding are you looking to do? Old school mtb street, newschool tightjeans stuff or a bit of both?

Yeh I was thinking about the streetsweeper and have actually spoken with the dudes from diety and they are cool. I might go with brooklyn machine works. Last time I rode adob the geo was funky. Thanks all for the replies.

So how is a Dob or BMW more mtb than the frames you mentioned? High bb means the bike is less stable in the air and the riding position is more like a bmx..

If you really want a Street Beast I'd say go 24" wheels and more bmx parts specs like 14x110 rear end, mid BB, 25.4 seat, 990's and steep geo. Check out a Liquid, Doberman, or give USB a look. We don't have any Molly's right now but cmc's build is right there and the price is beyond fair.

We have some 26" WCH frames in prototype process at FTW right now. It will be more of a mtn bike setup with 135x9mm rear end, 27.2 seat, & euro BB but have some BMX inputs like integrated HT and steeper angles.

I personally think the 26" bikes are at home at the trails, not too out of touch at the park but a little misplaced on the street. But it depends on what your definition of street, trails and park are.

couldn't agree more. i've been riding my 26" on the street for quite some time now, and after some playing around, i'm planning to make a move to 24" for street, hopefully this year.
