I'm pretty sure I'd have died every week on that trail due to that huge vertical drop on the right. Awesome but trails with sections like that scare the crap out of me.

Yeah, this. My guess is probably $ issues
Most WC trails are very different beasts to normal tracks. Not to mention that the WC guys are insanely fast if you see them live.

Though looking at Britain I'd say a good, strong race scene gets you the best results.

The fact that he destroyed that garden at that speed is awesome....the fact that he destroyed it with a 9 mile vertical drop to his right makes me want to dub him the NEW rock jesus...

If u can ride like that you will do well on any track.
Its not like the world cup tracks are that much different except for champery.
I rode with a guy from Equador once in Todtnau, the guy killed it, lost his chain and killed again.
Chainless.

Having been all over central and south America i think its all about exposure and money.
The scene is definitly rising over there and the big boys are beginning to notice if u look at the sponsoring.
Matter of time before they get one of these guys on a factory bike...

Ya, actually they are wayyyy different. All of them. Also, to be fair, the chest cam shaking about makes it look a little bit faster than it really is, but still sick.

Depends on where u usually ride maybe? I think we have plenty of tracks in Europe that would look well on the WC circuit, some obviously allready do...
And ive heard plenty complaints on some of the older and more recent world cup tracks not being up to par...
Ive never actually raced a world cup track but ive ridden a couple and raced plenty IXS and Maxxis cup tracks.
Not saying Alejandro here would destroy the field on his first race, but someone that can handle a bike like that will probably be able to handle a wc track.

Just my 0.02

However, if you have owned your own Gopro with a chesty, you can kind of put in perspective. That was fast.

I see it when I compare local and wc times at local results they are much closer. Hell I remember some locals comming very close to Peaty and the top guys when we hosted euro champs (long time ago). Not really did as well on WC tracks. That's where my assumption comes from

Also I wouldn't be as fast to assume that a fast guy from any country will do amazing on the WC circut. Every year there are some riders with great hype behind them that don't live up to the hype.

Also classical wc tracks are way different to most IXS tracks. Leogang is the only common venue and it's 50% a wc track, 50% bikepark. I've heard bad wildbad is nice though.

You say that locals come really close to the pros during races but don't do that well in other venues or WC tracks. Maybe it's because the pros are more able to adapt to new conditions?
You know they are almost two weeks in another venue with different tracks, different dirt and different weather. I think it's just the expirience and the ability to adapt to different conditions that makes a worldcup rider fast on every track.
On the other hand a local racer knows a few tracks really well but hasn't to adapt to new conditions that often.
But you're right, worldcup tracks are a bit different than riding a bikepark.

Not really talking about the bikepark tracks, im more a fan of a track like Rittershausen for example if were talking Germany. Should be some stuff on youtube but I think they dont race it anymore these days.
Also Blenheim NZ comes to mind, i was a lot more impressed by that then for example Willingen...
Not saying bikepark tracks suck, indeed bad wildbad is pretty sweet or some of the tracks in Lac Blanc France or the French Swiss Alps...

Maybe Im way off on the WC thing though, im sure theres some people on the monkey that could shed some personal lights on it.

I know loads of very very talented riders that just never shine at races. And likewise I know a (very) few riders that come off as having inferior skill but manage to pull together great runs consistently at races. I imagine it takes a lot more than being able to go fast to get results. South america also doesn't have the mentors and veterans other countries do. But it only means that it's needing a first generation of WC riders to test the water and bring home the progression.

it apparently has gone viral. its on reddit and a few other non-mtb pages...
