I just recently moved to the area (Lynnwood area) and desperately looking for backwoods DH rides? Ive ridden Tiger Mountain, various State Parks, Bellingham, Stevens etc. but looking for the other trails people ride??? I raced professionally in Oregon and California and looking the rides that get the skills polished and blood pumping thanks!!!!

Hit up the PNW forum; this area tends to be a bit east coast; there's definitely plenty of trails, and someone in here will chime in shortly.

Get in touch with Big Tree Bikes, DownHillZone or one of the area bike co's (Transition, Evil...) and seek out some rides! You may meet up with people down under the colonnade (Under I5 by Exit 168) and theres a ton of stunts and jumps to ride down there.

Im casually familiar as a seasonal visitor, but look into getting out to Bellingham area too.

Pretty much what he said... Oh and Duthie Hill in Issaquah but its a freeride park, no need for a proper DH bike but people still ride them out there

Best way to find the good trails, is to get involved in trail building. Won't take too long to meet the right people.

Don't be the racer douche that drives hours to ride loam trails in the the rain, and then posts up sweet edits, drops trail names, areas, and driving directions.

zachgord, lots of the area up there are not chill to be posting on the internet because they aren't technically legal areas for riding. the legal areas that can be mentioned online here are the colonnade under I-5 and duthie hill. bellingham is awesome too as galbraith has a bunch of well maintained and very well built, entirely legal trails. problem is, its an hour and a half drive from seattle. you best bets for finding out about the best riding are going to duthie hill and asking around, or heading to big tree bikes and talking to zeb or jerry.

Goddamnit, Thad! You're spreading sh¡t everywhere!!

Seriously, there has been a significant decline in peoples' trail etiquette over the past several years.

Put simply, if it is not a public park with posted trails or you are not the primary builder of the trail, DO NOT POST ABOUT IT ON PUBLIC FORUMS. Yeah, the trails are well known and people will find them, but keep it word of mouth. One gaper breaking himself off riding over his head, or some peon hurting someone while trying to show off in his shuttle truck, and the trails could be closed for good. Thousands of hours lost, masterpiece trails abandoned and left to die. Word of mouth is not a perfect system, but it's the only filter we really have to keep out the high risk individuals.

To the original poster, go to the PA races, ride Duthie and Galbraith, volunteer at traildays, buy your gear from your local shops and the trails will come...lots and lots and lots of them. It's what the rest of us did!

Thanks to everyone for the help...I've joined a few local trail building groups; being an avid rider, semi-pro and plenty of amateur time in, I'm fully aware of the sense of modesty involved in local trails and their low-profiles. Thanks to all for giving me a place to start, I really appreciate it.

...The current groups I've joined are cool but mainly consist of xc/all mountain riders (some didn't even know what downhill was)...can somebody lead me in the right direction for trail building groups specific to a DH community (any info is appreciated, modesty is respected and understood)...Again, this NW area is so foreign to me and I just wanna kill the trails. Thanks
