Wait, so a 12-year-old kid landed a bunch of spins?

Figure skating or skateboarding? I assume there are already tons of thoughts on whether he stuck the landing or not :D

Yeah, spins take no skill at all...sheesh.
Wasn't implying it was easy just pointing out what Lovebunny said when Hawk did a 900 before this kid was born. You would think in 12 years someone could throw in another 180 to go with it.
Agree, but how many ramps like that are out there?
I remember growing up in Riverside it seemed every other house had a half or quarter-pipe in the backyard. Nothing that big but there were a lot.

Of course there are a ton of ramps out there. In my tiny town in PA there were several ramps we would go to. Heck I even had two quarter pipes in my driveway. But how many are 27 feet high?

When Hawk first did a 900 it was on a regular 12'(?) half pipe (not quarter pipe, he had to pump) with a huge crowd watching. More impressive in my book. Its kinda like some mtn bike videos. They look really impressive but they might do a particular turn/jump/etc dozens of times till they get it nailed. Then it gets edited to make it look like one run. This kid could have been trying this for weeks with hundreds of failures. Multiple spins don't impress me much. Not in mtn biking, skateboarding or figure skating. When I skated I would rarely did spins because I found them boring. I'd much rather do a laid back lean ally oop. Same went for lip tricks - boring. Snowboarding halfpipe is boring to watch now cause its all about how many spins you can do and little to do with style. But that said, it was pretty ridicuclus back in the 80's with their hand built 5 foot ramps.

:stupid:

1080 on a mega ramp just doesn't seem as impressive as Hawk's first 900 back in 1999.

Yeah I used to do 1080s all the time as a kid but wasn't into doing competitions so that's probably why no one ever heard of it. ;)
