If you ride the Greenway out to Salem Lake be advised there is a group of teenagers that are attacking riders. Tuesday evening we came across a couple who were stopped just past the railroad trestle. The guy said three hispanic males ages 12-15 jumped him. Their M.O. is to wait in the bushes and push their bike in front of you as to cause a crash. The victim said that two of the three had sticks but took off when he told them there were other riders behind him. I and my riding partner rode with the couple to the tennis courts and waited for the police.
There was another occurrence last night as well that sent a rider to the ER. more
Be on the look out for any "kids", possibly Hispanic or African American on a bright green bmx bike and a generic mountain bike. So far both times have been under the railroad trestle.
I'll try to find out more info from the downtown bike patrol. Hopefully this does not continue and the little sh1ts get caught. I do that ride after work 2-3 times a week solo and this really pisses me off. Seriously considering carrying a weapon other than my mouth and a cell phone.
