Okay, I dont have a standard box handy...can one of you shop types give me the measurements of a box, according to the standard of the USPS?
(Length + circumference, must not total more than 130 inches...)
Hving quite a few problems getting somehing shipped to me via the USPS (My only option). I have done it many times before, but the shipper is having issues with the Post Office...

Last time I tried, USPS will not ship an oversized package internationally. Which is a shame since that is by far the cheapest option. They will deliver one that originates outside the US though.
I had to go UPS which is 3x the price.
DHL?

Its not technically international. Its going to an APO, which is a NY postal code. It goes there via normal channels, then gets put on a military jet in available space...

Check http://www.bikeflights.com/bicycle_shipping.aspx they list several known box dimensions including re-used cardboard boxes. I'm selling a frame right now and the box for that alone measures 42x22x8.

I got a bike box to APO and shipped a crate back, too, which was even bigger.

I recall arguing with them until they mentioned something about oversized space-available parcel mail or somesuch, at which point they were like "Yeah, of course you can do it that way, but it might take like 2 weeks!" At which point I kinda smacked myself in the forehead, but smiled politely, paid the money, and got my stuff shipped home.

IIRC, the box I received at APO had the frame and components in one frame-sized box and the wheels in a separate one.

There shouldnt be any problem. I shipped a full size box to myself (Complete bike I rode right up to PCS day) 6 months ago. Took awhile, but it got hung up in NY with Xmas goodies competing for Space A. I suspect we are dealing with newbie postal clerks...
