NORCAL is the hizzle
I still think they look sketchy for being so publicly out of contact for so long. Doesn't mean they are sketchy, just don't quite get why they quieted themselves so putblicly. That said, its their company, and I guess they have their reasons.
All the earlier hype has bitten them in the butt. I think it makes perfect sense for them to lay low until they are back on track with production frames ready to sell.

Also, dirk asked for his 2 threads to be deleted/locked. I have no idea why, but it's his thread so it was done.

it seems like you are for taking down a pic of a pile of useless frames. is evil a sponsor on RM? was the image too graphic and maybe needed nsfw tags
? or is it just because of your relationship with him?

The train wreck that is the undead thread continues to deliver...
I took a mental picture of that frame pile. Were the subsequent posts by ih8rice and others deleted as well? Booooooooooooo...

Seriously, I know I'm a horrible person, but can someone send me that pic, I didn't save it when I saw it.

Also, it was a rather topical picture, I mean a pile of broken dildos would have been inappropriate, but not a pile of Evil frames in an evil thread. (see what I did there...)

with a sawzall and some steel wool, it could potentially be the same picture

Clearly this was all the taken out of context. It was a pile of perfectly functioning Revolt frames arranged next to a faulty deck chair and everyone started jumping to conclusions.

This thread has shown me a few things though, so its good.

1) You can't buy a bike based on paper. The Evil rocked on paper (or on screen, I guess) and blew up int he real world. What you see on paper isn't necessarily what you get.

2) Lots of people on the internet can't read.

3) Kevin is either a great guy that got screwed (which sucks) or hes the MTB antichrist, depending who you ask.

4) Dilzy is a troll, and level 99 internet asshat.

5) Evil bikes are pretty enough to sell organs for.
You might be a bit off on point 3 (or at least I think so!):

The original Evil team was essentially the same as the original high end IH team. When the 2005 models came out Sundays, MkIIIs, 7Points etc they were plagued by manufacturing problems, esp. the tolerances round the lower link bearings - which resulted in the first batch requiring to be shimmed to remove play and wear. All the blame was put on the doorstep of the Taiwanese manufacturer (the Sapa/Kinesis USA produced frames were all fine): I got this straight from Todds mouth at the time. Apparently DW ended up having to act as an unpaid QC consultant in order to protect his reputation as IH could not sort their own mess out. Thankfully Kinesis? weren't using filler to weld the frames but just getting a bit sloppy with the jigs...

Despite everything else that went on at IH they had the resources to sort this out; an unpaid engineer with his name on the line, the marketing clout to ride it through and some money to throw at making fixes. As a result the later runs were fine(ish).

Considering this I reckon that Kevin et al didn't learn the lesson - and with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight is a bit of an idiot for essentially allowing the same mistakes to happen again without the resources to get away with it.

I really hope he (and Evil) pull through - its a lovely bike design, but as I had drummed into me back when I started you should never cut corners with QC.

Kevin said he was heading to China to see the production frames a week or two ago. He obviously has been working hard to get things back on track.

i just meant that seeing this they are probably going to be able to come through on the warranties and we will see some undeads hit the stores.

From my conversations with Kevin, Warranties will be split with sales bikes as they arrive. Meaning if he has 200 warranties and 2 shipments of 200 frames each, each batch will get 100 or so allotted to warranties and 100 for sales.

I have no idea however on the actual numbers of any of those things.

That's not a very good idea IMHO, warranties should go first.

of course they should, but if the above is true they are probably relying on those new sales to generate enough cash to get more warranty frames built. i imagine money is tight right now. disclaimer - i have no idea how this all works - just seems logical.
