Im over here now
...I'm positive this is definitely NOT for public consumption... at least not yet anyway...
its in several new mtb issues. if its not meant for public drooling, then someone at Specialized will be getting fired.

but if they deliver the rest of the bikes in the next two weeks it's half a year and that's miles better than evil
not really fair to compare delivery of a product with a basically defunct company. but at least they didnt take people's money so far in advance when they actually were delivering product

I like how you wrote that so authoritatively as if you actually remember (or even knew what DH was in '97) and didn't read it from someone elses previous post on this forum a few months ago.. . . But FYI, Chipie was the co-sponsor of the team. They were (are?) a popular French clothing company and I do not recall watching Vouilloz race in a pair of carbon jeans. Though he did have one hell of a snazzy pair of shiny tights.

But of course you meant to say Sunn Radical with a carbon monocoque front end and steal swingarm, right?
lol, what a dick.

Whoops - I haven't had the chance to look at my recent copy of DECLINE, but indeed - there it is. I thought this was a case of a shop sneaking pics of a catalogue ahead of the official launch.

HB rode some carbon bikes. Was he on one in 1990. It would be pretty funny if the very first World's win was on a carbon bike.

Didnt Gwin win the big deal on a carbon Trek (late season) last year?

Okay, tweak some perspective, and maybe Spec had the 1st win of some sort, but Joe Public has been winning on all dif carbon bikes that are in produx while Spec plays market mastermind.

Nice bike tho. Cant wait to see the lift lines drenched in more carbon soon.

Yay.

mmmm, pretty sure not? There was a Zerode there but I don't recall anyone on a Lahar
There was a Lahar there. The guy broke one of his chains right out of the truck. I saw the bike at the last duryea race too. I didn't think they were that old, but I guess I was wrong. It has a chain from the cranks to the Rohloff hub, and another from the hub to the rear hub. The most f'ed up thing is the 1/4" thick chainstays and how the brake therapy thing creates an X in relation to the chainstay. The huge center-mass with the mono tube running to the headtube looks weird also. But if the guy likes it and it works, what's my opinion matter, right?

Damn, that's up there with a unicorn sighting. Haven't seen one of those in about 5 or 6 years and always had about the same impression as you. It just looks so weird, but props to the guy for making them basically in his garage (before it went under and people lost their money). Those bikes definitely had a cult-like following for a while, but if nothing else it's impressive to see one still on the trail. I guess they're durable if nothing else.

Did you get a chance to look at it from behind? Proportionally it's just so odd, I can;t help staring.

I like the 100% carbon frames moar:
why would you even make one of those?! because you can I suppose... unless it's for a racing yacht or uber-light weight plane or something like that where every gram counts...

Carbon rear end? Devinci Wilson?
Along those lines: I wonder if Specialized has some of their pros running the Status so they can gather data about rear-end stiffness. I wonder if by using carbon, Spec could ditch the double chainstay design, keep the weight low (or even drop some weight) and maintain stiffness...

It seems like they have some of their pros running the status just to sell moar frames.

Sweet there is going to be a team s-wroks replica with a 135 rear end, 6 speed 9t drivetrain, coated stanchions etc. Then a regular carbon non s-works version with an rc4 and a 150mm rear end.

Negative ghostrider. Double barrel on the sworks. Regular carbon gets an rc4.

No, Christiaan is correct. Per the Carbon Demo pdf packet, the team replica gets Vivid, other complete is RC4, and team replica frameset is CCDB.

Yeah I meant vivid on the replica complete sorry. But the non sworks Demo 8 I gets an RC4 and the replica frameset gets a double barrel and a 150mm rear end unlike the complete which gets a 135.

Anybody care to explain why the Sworks has 11mm carbon while the Demo8-I has 10mm??
FACT 11m and 10m are not measurements in millimeters if that's what you're thinking. as far as i know the 11m and 10m are FACT designators for the different grades, layup, type, shape and method of construction of the carbon.
