These interviews are cringeworthy.
Agreed, the Rock Roads interviewers are tragic. In my opinion, Lopes did a great job giving a play-by-play of the action with some opinions and style... Given the # of BL55 haters not yet posting here, turns out my thoughts just might be shared. Warner brings the knowledge and personality + Lopes' insight and opinions are a good combo.
[ftw Mikey Sylvestri & Mitch Ropelato top 20 at Windham. BOOM.]

Brian Lopes has an announcer's voice.
He could do that $hit in golf or tennis even.
He sounds like a newscaster.
Vanilla Nice.

In more exciting news, that was a great race. The top 5 are the bosses of the sport.
You can't hide on that course.
Congrats to Gwin again.

I wonder if anyone has a chance at beating Gwin this year on a real non pedaly course. The magins got smaller but he still wins convincingly and looks much faster. It is amazing how fast he is.

On a side note I'm happy Hill slowly gets his confidence back. Hope to see winning again soon.

Plus Hill really showed his speed on the bottom of the course which of course means he is fit as well. If he keeps building, he will be a handful at worlds.

i could have used a few less 'definitely's' but i agree, once he seemed to get warmed up and comfortable talking his insight was good.

i don't think that many people here really hate on lopes55, he's just an easy target to mess with. i make lopes55 jokes semi-frequently but i have tons of respect for the dude and his riding. for me it's all just in good fun.

and for the women - props to micayla gatto for her first WC podium.

I think Lopes had some good insights. Like how nobody had the perfect run and you could piece together part of several runs to find the perfect one. I think that was a good way to sum up today's race.

I like bikes.

Gwin is doing a great job holding the carrot in front of the other rabbits trying to catch him this season in overall points and most races this season. Ragot would have been a contender for the win today had it not been for a mechanical but thats racing. She looks determined to take the overall win this season even with Rachel and Pompom close on her heels. Thats just what I've seen and my 2 pennies

I very rarely get afraid when I see a crash...but Neko's had me gasping and holding my breath...does anyone know if he is ok? I know we saw him on two feet afterwards, but he still seemed very shakey. Just wanted an update

From Neko's facebookspace:
Hey everyone, I am okay and feeling pretty good after today's crash. I haven't seen it yet but everyone who watched it on redbull has been telling me it was pretty bad. I have a headache, but my body is 100%. Don't really remember what happened either, just glad to walk away from it.

I'd love to see some split screen videos of the top guys like Freecaster used to put out after the races.

That Neko crash was horrendous to watch. Glad he's up and ok.

Maybe not, but I'm wondering about a course he never raced on. He mentioned in a interveiw a few years back that a course he's been to he can just concentrate on being fast and not worry about learning the course. I think the two races he never been to, the races will be a lot tighter or even get beat.
Talking abou gwin not hill.

Elliot Jackson 31 Woot! Looks like if he didn't have that little bobble he'd be top 20 for sure, possible top 15! Holy sh*t that crash by Mullally was SCARY! Slow mo showed he just SMASHED his head into that dirt hump.

Just watched the replay again, what happened to Ragot's bike? Looks like her freehub wasn't engaging or something?

Quite a few mechanicals in the field, in both qualifications and finals. Must be a fairly hectic track.

Am I the only one who misses the freecaster broadcast? I appreciate the stable broadcast from rb but other than that freecaster provided much more additional stuff plus warner was actually funny to hear. Nowadays he can't speak one clear sentence.

Such a shame for Ragot and Fairclough. Brendog would have been in the top ten with a chain. But that's racing I guess. Hart was awesome to watch. Cutting turns like nobodys buisness. It's really amazing how tight he can hold it at that speed.:thumb:

Gwin made a few visible mistakes in the woods. But in the flat out sections he was deifinitely the man to beat.

I was very pleasantly surprised by Lopes' commentary, he seemed to know the riders better and actually concentrate on the race more than Warner.
Warner is great for lifting the mood and getting everyone excited, but sometimes he seems to miss really obvious looking things on the racetrack.

I was thinking the same thing. Rob just seems to be a bit out of touch. He seems quite a bit less involved than he used to be. The lack of his course walks and rides, no or litle wondering pit interviews. It is like either RB has his hands or should I say mouth tied. Sometimes I get the feeling he just doesn't want to be there. I am sure the lack of Booze may have somthing to do with it. Red Bull needs to let him loose and just be Rob.

Yes, Freecaster had all those trackwalks and additional coverage, but if we're talking about the camera coverage during the race, the Mont Sainte Anne race was really good. All the filmed bits of the track were pretty interesting, and there were enough cameras. After the Fort William fiasco this race was excellently filmed.

Have you watched the XC coverage?
Warner is commentating on that too now so a busy man, and TBF he's doing an excellent job.. he even seems to have learned the names of most of the top XC riders ;).. "The Brazillian dude" for instance ;), XC will attract a different audience so gone is the swearing and shouting but although it's far far more subtle his humour/piss taking is still very much there.

Don't think Rob doesn't know how to play his own PR.. he's made a career out of being a (MTB) celebrity far longer than he ever did as a rider..

As far as coverage goes, it was nice that there was not one, but perhaps 3 cameras on the rocky wooded parts. That for me made the coverage twice as interesting as Ft Bill's.

also,
