Ropelato's gotta be pretty pleased with that. Good to see him getting a shot at the big guns, and proving he's worthy...

Wow...wtf are those qualifying results? Who the hell is George Brainnigan and where did he come from? It's not fair that you Kiwi's have all the susperstars come out of nowhere. Those top 10 results are very surprising.

You mean the guy who has been a consistent top20 rider all this season and that had very good results in the NZ Cup this winter? ;)

Bruni skipped MSA. He was ranked in the top 20 before that. I would have to say he is the favorite to win the Juniors title if both stay healthy. Nico seems to be able to develop riders.
Yea i didnt see him on the msa starter list. Whyd he skip the race? Not allowed in canada or something?

Whats with chains this year? A number of riders lost them durings finals last week at msa. Is 10 speed to blame?
There's a spot called the "Shale Pit" where people have been breaking everything. It's a jump that people are casing onto a pile of sharp rocks. I stocked up on E13 parts there as I walked back down the track yesterday. You can see sparks flying off people's bikes as they go in there. It's super fast and sketchy. Gwin was trying to have changes made there. It looked like they might have built up the lip a bit yesterday, but the rocks that have been wrecking bikes are still there.

I understand making changes a bit before the race but after quali and before the race? Even if it's a ****ty section it will throw a lot people off. I hate when the organizers do that.

In the mens event, 25 of the 80 qualifiers are British :)

(this might be fairly normal, I'm not sure, and too lazy to check).

Here's a few shots from today. A pretty low-key day with not that many runs being taken, but the course has if anything gotten rougher still. There were tons of people limping down with flats. Top guys seemed to be getting faster. Sick Mik and Minnaar were sending Peaty's Plunge all the way to flat. In the interest of Monkey disclosure, I have to tell you that Lopes was not wearing a shirt yesterday. I took a shot of him next to a shirtless Warner, but you don't want to see that, and I'd feel to gay posting it. I also have to disclose that I failed to take the shot of Tracey Hannah eating a banana while I was talking to her. She's super-nice and I just couldn't do it. She was getting faster today too and I think might take some risks tomorrow. She says that she has changed her schedule so she can do the rest of the WCs and wants the overall. I don't see that happening unless she sends all of the jumps. The girls are separated by pretty big gaps, and they can gain a lot with the jumps.

Enjoy!

Headwind in the jumps section should make things interesting. Also, it looks like Brendog is out, maybe Leov too, he rolled past on the ski trail with one arm tucked up.

What are the current requirements to be able to race in a WC? Other than being on a UCI Trade Team.

Is there a pedally bit on the track? Because Tracy made up 3s on the lower part of the track.

As usual it starts a little after the first riders begin to ride. 6m it says.

@Pbody - you don't have to be in no team to race a worldcup. You need UCI points gathered on smaller races.

i was wondering this too actually. do they not need points if they are on a trade team? or do they need to get enough points every year before the WC season?

From the UCI rulebook

1.Having obtained at least 20 UCI points in the UCI DHI individual
reference ranking (*).
2. The national federations may enter a maximum of 6 supplementary
riders per category. These riders must wear national team clothing.
3. Junior riders (aged 17 and 18) belonging to a UCI ELITE MTB team or
a UCI MTB team.
