Morning monkeys!

2 good rides over the weekend. Saturday we rode West Hartford Reservoir, and BigT rode well. Se did an early start due to it being hot. Sunday we planned on riding Gay City State Park, but didn't have any cash for parking, so we opted to go to Case Mountain. We got a late start, and only did a short ride, and again BigT rode well. During the ride, we heard thunder, but didn't think about it. We got home and the Heavens opened up.

Today is moar office.

Be safe out there.

Happy Monday! LMAO omg!

Fun weekend. MBC and I had a tough MTB ride Saturday. One of the more technical places I've ridden...like top three, although in my own defense I don't actually keep a running list of these things. I like to think I'm a pretty good technical rider, and I spent more time having to walk over rocks than I care to admit. Yesterday was a nice mellow 31 mile road ride, then we watched TdF while stuffing our faces.

HOORAY 3.5 day work week! This coming weekend should be fun. I'm participating in a half ironman relay and was recruited to be the runner on a team. It'll be my fourth half marathon and anything less than a personal best will be disappointing (1:48, and I am gunning for 1:44, with an outside shot at 1:40).

Enjoy your work day today!

Beautiful HOT weekend. For some reason I actually feel stronger and ride better when it's really hot outside, so I don't mind it at all. Maybe it's because there's no warm up period or something. 12.7 miles on Saturday and 10 miles yesterday on mtbs, though I felt like I could've ridden another 10 or so each day. The front & rear deralleurs are not shifting right, the rear rotor is all bent to heck, the rear shock has not been behaving correctly ever since I got it rebuilt a couple months ago despite numerous attempts to dial in the rebound settings, so back into the shop it goes. Cha-Ching!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who measures mechanical tasks in # of beers consumed.

Once it gets much past 3-4, something has gone wrong because I'm either drinking angrily or having to take lots of pauses to assess the situation with a beer in my hand.

It was a ridiculously hot weekend, completely unpleasant. Heat index was 110+ both days. F'ing kill me.

Good morning folks. Knocked out 20 miles on the trails Saturday morning and headed to a BBQ in the afternoon. Proceeded to get way drunker than I thought and somehow managed to wake up Sunday morning with no hangover to speak of.

Now just have to get through the 4 days this week!

damn one of the just activated C130 MAFFS National Guard Fire retardant bombers crashed yesterday on its second run of the day along the Utah Nevada border. no further info but in most cases it is not a survivable event, however these guys got damn lucky and a rescue helicopter has transported all three crewmen to a local hospital

Ever notice how it takes increasingly longer as the number of empties stack up?

Morning Monkeys.

Mostly wet weekend, but decided weather be damned I was going to Saturday Market to look at art and stuff. Found a new artist that had these vivid prints on canvas. The cool thing was with the digital 3D glasses, the painting showed as 3D. Something about the way the glasses split the color spectrum into layers, so the colors in the painting stood out from each other. He said it works with most painting, actually. But the color contrasts in his wifes art were especially vivid.

Rode the CX in this morning. Slightly slower than Wednesday overall but was hauling ass on the downhills (gassed big time on the last 2 climbs).

Morning! Had a great weekend at the Windham World Cup. My Team set up the LUNA Booth and had some fun times with our "Wheel of LUNA" (small prize wheel, costs $1 to spin and every spin is a winner). Kids and adults alike seemed to enjoy the wheel and then we offered a women's ride/race clinic with Katerina Nash & Georgia Gould. We raised over $500 for the Breast Cancer Fund this weekend...woohoo!!!!

Probably the highlight of the weekend was seeing the all LUNA women's XC Podium--Catherine Pendrel 1st, Katerina Nash 2nd and Georgia Gould 3rd (though Georgia really won the race and hearts of everyone there -- her rear tire blew off the rim on the last lap, just before the last technical singletrack and she ran the rest of the race) and was passed right at the end by her teammates sprinting for the win.

Sunday, Syd did the kids race and got taken out by a couple of older boys...she was scared but wasn't really hurt. They crashed into her from behind and she was face down on the ground with them and their bikes on top of her. She got up and managed to pedal her way through the rest of the course, passing almost all the kids who had gotten past her. She's a tough cookie!

Overcooked a turn onto a ladder bridge and wasted my rear rotor 3/4 of the way thru yesterdays ride. Some rock bashing and pulling the caliper were needed to wrap up the ride. Machined a nice v notch into my carbonz stay before I came to a halt, which is awesome.

Had a great afternoon on the water checking out the military and tall ships in boston harbor. The police/CG presence was a bit overbearing but my 6yo cracked up the crew of a patrol boat that pulled along side us by grilling them about their weapons. He was disappointed they wouldn't heed his request of running a couple belts through the machine gun to 'show me what you got'.

damn 4 dead one critical. Rest in peace Sirs..

The USFS said there were two survivors and four fatalities. Yesterday Black Hills FOX News reported that the two survivors were picked up by helicopter from the crash site and flown to the Custer airport. From there one was flown by a life flight helicopter to a hospital in Rapid City and the other went by ground ambulance to the hospital.

The C-130 was identified as MAFFS #7 from the North Carolina Air National Guard’s 145th Airlift Wing based at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport and was working on the White Draw Fire about five miles northeast of Edgemont in the southwest corner of South Dakota. The accident, which occurred at 6:00 or 6:30 p.m. MT, is, of course, being investigated, and the cause has not been released, but the USFS provided some information:

A BLM ASM [Air Supervision Module] platform was also engaged as a lead [plane] with the C130 when the accident occurred. The ASM/Lead experienced a severe downdraft while approaching the intended retardant drop zone with the C130 in trail. This is being investigated by the USFS as a separate Incident With Potential.
