I'm on a road trip from connecticut with 5 buds. We were riding today in utah and my friend crashed and punctured a hole on the compression side of his lowers on his fox 40. It's not a significant hole, but there is oil leaking from it and you can hear air escape when you compress it.

We're looking for some ideas for a temporary fix so he can ride in a few days (JB weld perhaps?)

And a permanent fix?

As long as the hole doesn't interfere with the stroke (ie: material bent inward to catch the stanchion) just add some oil and duct tape it closed. Done this before to get through a weekend of riding. The oil in the 40's lowers is just bath lube anyway, all the important oil is sealed within the cartridge. :)
