Eccentric BB, Shock through the Seattube. Looks quite abit like a Dobermann LePink.

Funny how Specialized works.

I'm surprised the sx wasn't good enough for this ultra small slope style segment. Maybe it's aimed at the jirtdumpers. Slim design, maybe steel?
Someone on PB mentioned no sx or sx trail for 2013... Any truth to that?

There is no ultra small slope style segment. People who buy them don't ride slope sized jumps because they are only present on comps (and 6m doubles are still doable on ht's ) and most of them use their dirt fullys as all around bikes. Though I am sure if spesh releases the sx with a completely new marketing claiming it's the cool new thing that will make you a dj pro people will buy it even if it will differ from the sx as much as the 2011 demo differed from the 2010 one.

Haha, I meant the segment (or number) of people buying them, not the size of the jump vs bike.
That's why I'm guessing it may be aimed more at dirt jumpers (even though the sx seems sufficient) since there are a lot more people who ride dirt jumps, than there are who get to ride actual slope style courses or comps. I think we're on the same page about the marketing thing... :)

I remember reading a review by a member here, on the SX. It said something along the lines of it not having enough pop and it felt more like a trail bike than a jumper? Maybe that's why they're adding this to the line up?

Good call- you're probably right, I've never ridden one but seem so recall something similar.

That was Kidwoo's review. If they'd have stuck w/ the suspension design of the '06, they wouldn't have had that problem. I had to get the shock revalved and go to a bigger air can to get full travel out of mine.

Yeah, Kidwoo. The short time I had on an SX was fun, but it took a fair bit to get it to jump, compared to the Killswitch, or the Rampant that I was riding. I think this might be a new P Series fully though, I doubt they'd get rid of the SX. It'd be kinda silly to do so... The SX is a fun little bike, and would probably still do a lot better on gnarly dual slalom, or 4X.

As far I'm concern, this one is the new "SX TRAIL" 2013. Called Enduro EVO

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Remember that the Enduro time ago was Enduro SX and SX TRAIL

So this new prototype should be the new "slope style" kind of bike.

New and sexy !

I'm simultaneously surprised and not surprised that they went with that setup. IMO, it's the best thing going for slopestyle and even park riding. It's just that they put so much emphasis behind FSR, I'm shocked that they would blatantly copy the dobermann/killswitch/kona/etc.

The being said, it looks like a clean bike, and if it makes it easier for me to get one cheap, I'm all for it.

Uh... Don't think anybody's talking about the SX Trail here...
I know that anyone is talking about the SX Trail, but if you see the whole subject about this is that the SX isn't on the new Spz Catalogue, has been replace with the new Enduro EVO , SO that means that they need a new bike for slope style and slalom or anything short travel, bumps, jumps !

SX come out, prototype come in

There is a new Enduro SX and Enduro EVO coming out in 2013. There have been some leaked pictures of the Enduro EVO bikes, which are the bikes that will replace the current SX Trail. There is also going to be an Enduro SX that will replace the current SX. This was alluded to in the Enduro press release from a couple weeks ago, and there have yet to be any pictures of this bike made public from what I know.

This 'other' bike is a new slopestyle specific bike that the Big S is releasing. The new Enduro SX and this new bike will be released at Crankworx. Hopefully we'll get to see this new Enduro SX as well.

I am not sure why they would replace the SX, I have one and absolutely love it, probably one of the best bikes for slalom if not the best. Ive never heard a bad word spoken about them?

Kind of glad to see the "sx trail" (now enduro evo) and sx are going back to the enduro lineup. Makes more sense to me- Seemed like the sx trail/ evo have been fairly redundant for the past couple years. Hopefully the new evo can take a beating like an sx trail.
Looks like the geometry on that evo is lower and slacker than the sx trail, so it could be cool there...

I would be surprised if they change the geo on the sx- I bet the upgrade will be lighter with some suspension improvements and look like an enduro. Excited to see it.

Not really. The enduros are still trail bikes, even though some dork in full pads finally gets the balls to hit a double on one once he gets it and raves about its 'freeride capability'.

I hit road gaps with sketchy landings and white knuckle my sx trail into nasty rock gardens on genuinely dh-ish rowdy trails at mob stoopit. I wouldn't do that with an enduro......or a nomad.....or an ibis HD........that general 'ilk'. The current SX trails are more like what the demo 7s should have been. True mini-dh or short travel dh rigs.

I heard something about spec making a "pee slope". That must be it. And it doesn't necessarily replace the sx, because that bike needs some serious tweaking to make it feel like a nimble responsive jumper. Plus it's kind of a tank. It's obvious it was made for racing and sucking up bumps, not popping lips. Slopestyle has kind of become just bigger more glorified dirtjumping and this looks like the bike to do it. Kind of weird they went full concentric/SS capable though. That's kind of surprising.

Hahaha!
Good point on the current enduro evo offerings... I'm assuming (maybe too hopefully) they would rework the frame to truly cover sx trail territory this time around- kinda like the '06-'08 enduro based sx trails- I guess we'll see soon enough- I had my fingers crossed for a resurrected demo7 or updated sx trail. Oh well, better hold onto my sx trail until we see what's up with this new evo!

I doubt you will see that happen with the popularity of enduro, spesh is doing it perfectly for that market. The 'mini' dh market is small, I think the status is what they are pushing you into for park...

Couldnt agree more with that. I really cant see this new Evo SX being up to SX abuse. I hope to be proven wrong....
