what would you ride?

Might be a solo mission so probably looking for more xc'ish rides. What's fun up there? Worth leaving whistler to head up there or should I just ride valley trails?

Stick your head in at the Bike Co and they'll give you exceptionally good advice. Definitely well worth riding there!

Climb up via Nimby/Middle Earth to Gravitron then back up and over to Stimulus then back up Happy /Waco/Nimby and hit Overnight Sensation to Meat Grinder.

Wear your big boy pants for that one.

Or scare yourself silly and ride Jack the Ripper.

jebus that would be a leg tearing lap(s)! anyone of those are going to be mega dry, loose, and babyhead rubbley this time of year, and all will probably scare you a bit!

Sure, but if you only had one day...

Get started up that first climb for Gravitron / Stimulus really early in the am before it gets hot be riding at 8am and take your time. Dunk in the river on the sand flats by the train bridge. Chill out have some lunch and find some shade during the heat of the day. Then in the afternoon do the Overnight / Meat grinder lap.

It would be a tough day. Looking to ride Pemby in mid August is not the smarted thing to do anyway, might as well go full on loco and cook yourself and embrace the dust.

Other option is to round up a full shuttle van and do what we did that year with Lee and Sharon. Hired a van and filled it with riders that can keep a fast pace and knock out as many shuttle laps with no real break as you can, then at the end get shuttled up to the gate and climb up to Gravitron.

What would a guy ride if he was going to shuttle for a day? Is there a company that does shuttle runs up there?

Bring your gloves so you can climb down the ropes.

You know. "mountain biking"
The whole world can't be filled with flat poodle path's. When your terrain options are steep and steeper and you only have so many resources to built trail they end up going fall line. Kinda like skiing, point em straight down the fall line.

Gravitron is a massive waste of a 2-3hr climb (assuming you're pedalling from the bottom), on what is essentially an annoyingly steep and blown out trail (and I usually like steep stuff). Hours of climbing up Nimby/Mackenzie FSR/Middle Earth are blown in about 5 mins of flatspotting your rear tyre and destroying your brake pads. Gravitrout is a better option if you go down that side, but Jack the Ripper (which I actually haven't ridden yet, to be fair) or any of the lower trails make much better use of your vertical. If you're shuttling on a DH bike, Gravitron starts to make a bit more sense, but you really want to be comfortable on steep stuff to ride that trail, it is relentless!

Right because those are the only two options.

Hey, I'm up in your hood this weekend. Let's go climb down some ropes with bikes and scare some poodles.
What is your schedule? When you arriving? Going straight to Whistler?

Tell me you are bringing the 5spot. If all you have is dh and dj I'll need to borrow a bigger bike, all I have running right now is the trail bike.

So? GravitrOn suxxors?

I ridIng there Saturday. What trail is kidwoo-approveable?
no, it's just steep as fuuuuuuuug and this time of year will basically be surfing 4" of powdery dust. personally I think gravitrout is the better option, bit longer, slightly less fall line elevator shaft

Hey OP - what date are you riding Pemberton? I'll be in Whistler Aug 27 - Sept 10 and would love to branch out of the bike park this time around.

Hey LP, I don't have any set dates. I'm here for a bit and was just looking for some info on something to do on a day off from the bike park.
