So as the title says I'm going dove hunting for the opening weekend this coming weekend in CA. Any suggestions/tips on bringing home more dove? I just finished my hunters safety yesterday and bought my license and upland game tags today, plus some new boots, a vest and making an ammo belt at work tomorrow. I'll be gone Friday night through Monday (season starts at 6:06am Sat. where we will be hunting), anything I should make sure to bring besides the usual camping gear (including multiple ice chests as well as many many many beers)?
Oh and I'll be shooting my Remington 870 12gau.
Thanks guys!

Also if anyone has any experience with the Remington 700BDL (7mm) feel free to tell me what you think. Considering it as my next gun for deer/boar.

Dove can be very frustrating. They are so fast and dart all over the place.

don't give your position away
pick one bird in a flock to shoot
learn to lead and follow through while shooting
take lots of shells

Drive up my driveway. Watch the little mothers not move until you get right to them. Then pop their head off from the passenger side window at close range. Doves love blue granite gravel I tell ya!

Lead them about twice as much as you think you need to. those fvckers are fast.

And Butch that may be true when you don't have a gun on you, but I guarantee they won't be there when you walk out with a gun. The rabbits at our house do the same thing. Those bastards

Dove is pretty damn tasty.

Normally I'd advocate taking beer, and a flask. But you're new, you're armed, and guns and booze and new people are a bad mix. Just ask Harry Whittington.

If you have access to one I always take a twenty gauge over twelve for dove. And bring LOTS of shells. Have fun, those little buggers are a blast to shoot.
