Isn't is just post mount? On my 5 Spot which is post mount, I just took off everything except the CPS washers (that is assuming a 160mm rear rotor)
You have almost seven thousand posts on a bike forum and you can't work out how to mount a brake?

Which is dandy, but after over 10 years with the same standard, it's a pain for anybody with the old standard.

Pretty sure I have post mount brakes from ~04, they have been around for a while and I really like the integrated rear post mount idea.

No, needing a new adapter is a pain. I have a stack of IS adapters from 140-200mm. Now, I need to get another one adapter to run 180mm.
I understand the manufacturers want to generate revenue by intentionally making their product obsolete (see iPhone 5 for example). However given how much material is now suddenly obsolete, its wasteful - both monetarily and in materials.
Just in the interest of using what you may have, as well as the whole mass + velocity thing; can you fit a 8" rotor on the back of that frame?

I get where you are coming from. I just chucked a bundle of brake adapters they have been laying around for a while. It does get silly after a while.
And that is the nature of building bikes, cars, motorcycles, etc. Final cost will typically be 20% over your highest estimate.
Oh yeah. And it will be necessary. I can put the 6" back on, but we know how well that worked out for me before. Plus, this will be way more situated for DH than the 575.
No. I am just used to putting parts on once, right, and never having to deal with it again.
I can understand the brake and f. der changing. What I had not planned for and am still a bit pissed about was not being able to get the HS out of the 575. The local Yeti dealer, who does huge volume, doesn't have the Yeti headset extraction tool. I ended up spending $80 to get a headset for the frame. I'll probably have to eat retail on a new 9-speed D-type front der too. That's going to be $80 easily for an SLX.
I always estimate overages, just not things as asinine as a brake mount and headset.

In other news, do either of you girls (Jokester or Nick) wanna ride Chimpex or All Whites tomorrow morning? Thinking pedaling by 8 or so, gotta be back to the house to (hopefully) sell the 5. The LBG will be along as well, just to crush us completely on whatever climb we end up on.

Also, I had Hope's on my DH9. With my mass and the straight line tendencies of that beast, I actually needed brake power to stop.
Let me know if you find any wookie folk that want to buy my 575.
No stress, I'm thinking the LBG and I might ride just the two of us. You know, a little QTWTGF ain't ever a bad thing, especially if it involves screaming "STRAVA!" at unsuspecting hikers in the early morning hours.
I'll keep an ear open for wookies in need of couch-bikes. Lemme know if YOU know of any "L" sized folks would want a 5. Not sure I'll be selling it tomorrow morning, but hoping to.
The thing here is that I bet 90% of rear disc brakes are 160mm.
While it screws you running a 7 inch, this is actually an improvement for fewer parts.
I like post mounts way better. The hardware for mounting to tabs looks janky AF in my opinion.
Make sure you need the adapter first though. Some bigger travel frames take 7" or 8" rotors without an adapter.

Avid front post adapter 185mm. Is this what you need ? Bought this when I built up the Spitty but didn't need it.
