Yup simple but effective, it is for the Olympics.
No branding, sponsors etc.

I hope they're allowed to use careernumbers on the sides (temple area)...
These are included as stickers for the squad.

Err. Standox / HoK Basecoat paint & Standox HS 2K Clear but switching to DuPont 2K Clear soon.

Err. i didn't paint that, just posted all the various photo's of London Games destined BMX helmets.

It's a dliuted version of his regular Red Bull Cola helmet.
(Olympics don't allow sponsorbranding on athletes)

Oh, I thought you painted this one. I simply like the red and blue combo. Simple and beautiful.
But all your work is pretty outstanding, even if you didn't paint this one.

Sifiso's lid was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen...

well that was until Semenuks crankworx helmet started in the paint shop the other day.

I'm at the Olympics as a broadcast camera operator and all the helmets are stunning in person.
Our guy mark Willers did his own with a can of
Matt black on the padio at the village. Kiwi style.

Missed the Silver Fern on his lid...

So 3 out of 4 of my painted helmets made the Main Events, stoked and pumped!
End result 1 Bronze medal for Laura Smulders.

Cheers never heard of Poul Pava, I'll google him. They are a ripoff of an artist called Donnie Hunt, who I first saw when he was painting Ibanez guitars back in the early 90's
I make copies of the guitars and paintjobs, so figured it was about time to do a lid in that style


while I'm on a 80's, early 90's trip heres a quick pick of my XC bike I swirl painted last week

Haste/time issue, sponsor permitting... like the machine turned copper and pinstriping is done by hand.

ps. 3D halo glitters hard to catch in a photo. This is the father's helmet, son has the Ken Block / Nitro Circus D3.

Well it's not my fav band by far either...

But the customer is King!

In any case, the helmets for all the team riders are more or less the same, Sunset Orange with a Black center band; just some personal items or heck whatever they want on it.

He liked it busy anyways, we left out his name on the back in a 'slipknot' typeface.

having known someone who painted there, it's because they are so busy. that's also why they tape off all the moldings etc instead of taking them off which would be cleaner. just takes too long.

Our paint shop is still small, and we service global customers, in addition to NUMEROUS paint projects that are not helmet related, sampling future designs, bicycle frames, sunglasses, 160 notre dame helmets with gold leaf! the list of stuff I see back there is endless.

I don't speak as a painter per say, but as a fan of great looking helmets, a lot of vinyl can still look good, especially for logos and what not.

Hey Stikman,

Okay... but vinyl ain't custom paint; that's my point.

All of MotoGP Valentino Rossi AGV helmets by Drudi Performance are a combo of paint and stickers.
Likewise for F1 Sebastian Vettel Arai helmets by Jens Munser Design are a combo of paint, decals and vinyl.

Because of time between race weekends!? Or because of ease of use...

So in most cases sponsors won't allow painted on logos, but to stick (to tend strictly to 'corporate identity') on vinyl logos. Like Monster energy in most cases.

Hey m@lphy . Could you pm me. I'm interested in getting a d3 done and I'm in England and after checking out your work in person at the Olympics I'd like to look into commissioning a Helmet.

Due to a tight time schedule and turn around to short semi-gloss finish, will come back after 3 weeks in the US for a gloss coat.
