We had a pretty good time at our friend's halloween costume party on Saturday night. It was kind of weird though because the number of kids out numbered the adults this year. What used to be one of the craziest party of the year has now turned into a daycare with casual drinking.

Mornin! Got back on the bike after a month off. The four legged time waster had me occupied. Felt good to get out and stretch my legs again.

MBC and I teamed up in a duathlon relay yesterday since she is still unable to run due to a stress fracture. So, I ran and she biked (3 mile run, 11 mile bike, 2 mile run). We finished 4th out of 16 relay teams. We rock. The five miles of running were the fastest five miles I've ever run (7:06 pace). I am a bro, and that is a cool story. Bro.
I, too, am at work. I booked a hotel room across the street for the next two nights. I am "essential personnel" and would catch all sorts of crap from my boss if I wasn't here tomorrow no matter how bad the hurricane hits.

Went to a big Deschutes Brewery Halloweedn Cyclocross party Saturday and then watched costumed races all day yesterday. hilarious stuff.
Hanging at home with the kids. All of NYC is shut down,no school, no work. Lots of wind and storm surge.
Oatmeal, coffee, blue sky, Giants won the world series and I have a short day at work. its a good day

Forecast is for 15ft waves coming ashore; 40-50ft offshore and 75-90kt winds later today.
Based on the current water height, a big surge could possibly flood the boatyard and lift my 43yo wood powerboat off its stands, dumping her on the tarmac.
That would be awesome.
Kids are home and the only things open in town are the bars/liquor stores (all of them), boat yard and supermarket.

crisis #1 averted: clogged gutter leading to flooded basement. Gutter unclogged, water (mostly) pumped out. Thankfully it was the backroom in the basement which, while sitting higher than the main basement area, had a lip to it, so it was filling with water before it started spilling over to the main area.

I'm supposed to be installing software on a couple of failover clusters in the wee hours of tomorrow - wonder whether I'll have connectivity or not... will probably try to wade up to work no matter the weather tomorrow.

20k without power this morning... 625k without power now on LI. That's over half of all households per LIPA.
Yet we still have power and Internet for now. Only casualty on my end is a table on the patio crushed by a good sized part of a tree that fell over.
Got the new DHX for the Blindside today.... Its nice, going to beat the ever living **** out of it on a night DH ride tomorrow night...
