So here it goes, opening the can of worms.
After Fallfest, I went ahead and invested in the necessary simple equipment to host a crude race series (stopwatches/radios etc) We have trailers and shuttle trucks that have been gracciously offered for the cause from Gutbombers and Red House Bikes (race dates dependent of course).
With this being said, and the fact that windrock can be ridden year round, there is no reason not to host a 3-4 weekend grassroots race series.

The format will be this-
$15 entry fee on top of the $17 per day permit fee ($32 total for one day if you don't have an annual) *cash only
all money from entry fees will go to fuel for shuttle vehicles.
All money left over from that will be put towards cash purses for overrall awards (has the possibility of being a lot of money!)
Classes will be
Open
Amateur
*maybe an intro if theres interest but not likely

Zero-Tolerance on sandbaggers, I reserve the right to bump riders up a class

I do not have any dates planned yet, but would like to have them at one month intervals, just want to avoid conflicts so i will post dates soon. (please private message me with any conflicts you are aware of that are bike related)

If you are stoked on this let me know, but regardless of stoke, this is gonna happen!
Just to reiterate, all registration money will be solely going to shuttle truck gas and prize money...Boom

first couple on lowers, then final on a mans full run! full on garbanzo for the finale! Please keep in mind this will be fully grassroots, like paper plate numbers kind of grassroots, so we dont really want the entire east coat showing up.

Ok 2 problems........
1. I must be allowed to sandbag....Like forever.
2. No paper plates,I'll check into some reusable plastic ones.....I'm thinking I'll be able to cut some out of those plastic trash cans scattered around Windrock.

Having a huge amount of people would make the whole thing a nightmare logistically, small underground winter races should stay small. This does not need a press release...

Great success!! I will sure as hell try to make as many of the races as possible, and I really like the idea of a lung smashing Windmill course. Maybe set up a beer/stripper tent about half way down so pinipeds like myself can catch a breather.

That would be on the gravel road after the wall and before the gully. Room to pop up a tent, some lights, a beer...ummm, feed zone.

just joking around, yes, open will be pro/top am. There is the possibility of a trailbike/intro class if there is interest, however this will remain a purely run what ya brung. Unless what you brung is a 29er.

Schedule has been trimmed to two races. To open the potential for people who would be interested in purchasing season passes which are only $88, the first race will be Jan 20th, and it will be a short course race from the halfway point. The second race will be Feb 17th and will be garbanzo style all the way from the top. The courses will be open on the saturday beforehand for anyone who wants to ride however there will be no official practice before raceday. I will be posting a race flyer with schedule, fees, classes, etc later on.

Sounds like a good time to me. Will try to make it out to both possibly. Definitely will try to make it for the "garbonzo" one.

I'm really curious what it is that you do that you have to work on a sunday before two of the more uncommonly celebrated holidays.

App Ski. The only way I can get x-mas off is by working other holidays because we haven't had any time to train anyone new since winter doesn't exist anymore.
