Nope I started here, July 2001.
Think I started using this avatar about 3 weeks later? Must be the oldest avatar on the site by now?
Acadian made mine sometime around Dec 2001. Super old school. What's funny, is that it's the avatar I use for everything now: Google, RM, other forums, etc.

excellent! we can use a few more dirt covered grumpy old bastards that remember non-indexed SunTour thumb shifters
Bitch, I had those on my 1990 Schwinn Impact 43#, rigid, steel 12-speed. IN 1990.

What's crazy to think, is that I've got 23 years of mtb under my belt at this point. And I'm only 32.

I got a feeling that like me, JBP used to ride cruiser bikes, ten speeds, and Stingrays on the trails back in the dark ages before "Mt Bikes" my first "Mt Bike" was a rigid Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo with non indexed thumb shifters, a U brake under the chainstay, cantilever brakes on the fork with 4 finger levers and those wonderfully wide 1.65 knobby tires. brand new in the early 80's

Been on a MTB since I was 12. Needed bigger gears than my BMX offered to ride the trails I had access to. Worked a Paper route for a year to save up and buy a 10 speed Ross Mt Washington. Frickin thing weighed 40 lbs. Circa 1986

In hell. Welcome!
Is this thread digressing into a wonderful trip down the RM-emory lane? ;)

Us refugees always bring out the best in total strangers!

Sandwich,
What's the deal? To play sandlot bully with a noob is somewhat expected.
To cast a (-) rep telling me to stop it -for my 2nd post to ask about site policy for NSFW
is a classless move. Grow a set, if you disagree with my post / opinion / advice, then please call me out.
Otherwise you just appear a stalker, and as a former Mainiac, I'm quite familiar with Mazzholes.

Whew... be careful what you ask for. We have a wild Australian with some pretty interesting hobbies and perversions.. He's most likely sleeping now, rubbing his one shaved leg with painted toenails against his other normal unshaven leg for excitement. But just wait. You may just be shocked... haha

I did pee on my leg a little today shaking it too vigorously. If that counts...
Hey i heard that, and whats wrong with shaving one leg and painting the toenails on it so i can pretend its a womans and rubbing it against your other leg whilst masturbating, you guys should try it, you'll never go back

I started mountain biking off and on when I was 19
That gives me 20 years
I also have been a bit of a Fred my whole biking carrier
I remember jumping on huge technology breakthroughs like v brakes
People told me I was crazy for buying a marzocchi Z1 bomber
The guys at the LBS thought 100mm of travel was crazy
No way do you need that much travel for XC
I still have it hanging in my shop with my super v frame
Getting old I guess

I think I manage a good balance between e-biking and the real thing. Except for Senegal getting in the way. Stupid Africa...

Where is that Toys 'r Us fight thread. It made me laugh...

I distributed some negative rep because I get really tired of people pushing the limits of NSFW, when BV was kind enough to do his nerdy magic and give us a nice little tag for them to hide behind. Lots of us browse this forum at work, and I'm not thrilled to open up a thread (like page two of this thread) and be looking at some girl's clam when I don't know who will be over my shoulder. If you didn't know then, fine, but you know now, and none of those photos have been tagged....but to keep pushing the limit...and pushing....I get tired of reporting posts and making the mods do the work, when the poster needs to take responsibility. If a red square means that much, then so should following the rules of tagging.

There's plenty of porn on the internet. We don't need it here. Keep it behind a tag or don't post it.

Okay, in order to prevent this turning into an argument:

It's important that you guys tag explicit photos as NSFW. That's just how this site operates. It's a safe site for work monkeys to kill a few minutes/hours/days/entire work years, and we want to keep it that way.

Let's cut the new guys some slack while they settle in. We all know now so let's return to our regularly scheduled ass-hattery.

Enough, please. The new guys know the rules, and the long time members need to stop piling on. I think it's very clear that all of the new members are being respectful and cognizant of what has been asked.

Wow, WTH just happened?
Went to reference my post #57, and wham the last three are missing. If MILD discussion is not allowed then what good is an open forum? No profanity, or even classic insults were used, yet the posts are gone.

Again, I will play by your rules, yet do NOT randomly tweak them, as you see fit. Apply to all, and be consistent. It is for this VERY reason that many of us got frustrated by MTBR.

Actually, your post was fine. I removed several posts from our long time members who were turning this into an argument, repeatedly pointing out facts that you guys already understood - and your post then referenced nothing.

Very little gets moderated around here, I was just preventing the thread from turning into a dogpile.
