So i've got this set of Havens that are 142x12. Easton only makes a 135x10 conversion which wont work for my needs. Dont want to re-lace a new hub to these wheels. So I had this thought. Take the wheelset to a shop (machine/cnc/mill and have them knock 3.5mm off each endcap of the hub.

any ideas on whether or not this will actually work?

axle out? it's a standard 142x12 rear no inherit axle built in.

Unless you mean whatever the 12mm axle slides through inside the hub? Then in that case I don't know. Havent tried removing the endcaps either yet but know theres a conversion to 135x10.

would the better bet be to buy the 135x10 endcaps and have them opened to 12mm (assuming theres enough material left over)

Easton makes 135x12 end caps for the Haven. They are about $8 retail and the 142x12 rear wheel includes them when purchased new/aftermarket. Shouldn't be hard to find a set if you don't want to deal with modding yours.

^^ they are just end caps not conversion kits. they should have come with the wheels new if they were bought aftermarket. If they were OEM it should only take a phone call.
