I too, am surprised to find this thread un-responded too by me.

-My name is Shane.
-One daughter, one wife, one cat, two dogs
-College drop out whose been bending wrenches on airplanes since 1998, with the nations largest regional airline since July 2001. Sometimes I regret that but it's really hard for me to complain when I step back from it for a bit.
-I've been dead once and have the scars to prove it.
-I've lived in Tennessee, Texas, New Mexico, California, Oregon, Washington and now Colorado. I've been trying to get back to the Pacific North West since the day we left, but I think were stuck in CO for the foreseeable future. Visited many other places, one of the perks of working for an airline.
-Currently down to 2 bikes. One Niner RIP 9, and my commuter, a Motobecane Single speed road bike. I like motorcycles as well, even when they try to kill me.
-I think I might be building up to a marathon even though I really hate running.
-I like doing things outside, video games, and home brewing.

Dittos on the non-response!

I'm Jim. One kid, one wife, down to one cat, and I think we have about 12 bikes between the three of us.

I had my 'mid life crisis' in my 30's, so for my 40's I finished my MS degree in Organizational Management (MBA minus the stats and the requisite trip to China).

Raced BMX as a kid, raced a bunch of 24 hour XC races for fun, raced DH starting at a ripe age of 38. Now that my kid and I began to hit the track late last season I might take up BMX racing with him next year. My 4 bikes are: FTW FB 10 DH, Sinister Gruitr trail bike, Intense Super moto BMX cruiser and a Frankensteined Azonic Steelhead SS for knocking around.

Played in various bands for 20 something years. Nothing big, but one of them had several releases on Bacteria Sour, Pushead's label. He did a bunch of art for Misfits, Metallica, etc. I am also a recovering record collector. Here is some nerd's collection of said release:

I have been roped into helping out with some grunt work on the Eastern States Cup Enduro series in 2013. Yes, I may be the one picking up the course ribbons at the end of the race...

I'm Chris. 33 years old and married (to that skibunny chick!) with one kid and 2 dogs.
I'm an auto mechanic and have been since high school. 15-16 years now. Damn! How time flies indeed! I've been riding bikes since I moved back to Wa in 2000. I've been snowboarding since the 7th grade and last year started to ski. I think if I can get better at it I will like it better than snowboarding. It is fun learning to do something with my son. I think he is getting it faster than I am though!
I joined the RM after lurking for a long time and getting my first real downhill bike! A Sunday which I still ride.
I've had a few minor injuries from biking. Broken wrist (twice), dislocated shoulder, broken nose, cracked ribs. But I think the most painful thing I've had was a kidney stone last summer. I have lots of hobbies and not enough time to focus on any one. I wish I could narrow it down to a few but I just can't!
I'm thankful for the things I have. My family a house and a good job!

I'm John.
I came here from Gearhead.com.
I was born in Boston, Massachusetts.
I am 61.
I'm not married, but with the same person since 1969. No kids.
I ride a beat up 2001 Aeon Joker that I bought from MikeB on this forum.
I'm an E.E. and an IT dweeb, provisioning and maintaining ecommerce server farms.
My grandfather was hauled before HUAC but eventually chased them away with the help of the U.S. Supreme Court.
I used to operate landing craft and other harbor boats in the U.S. Army in Pusan, Korea.
The Joker broke in 2007, got a Heckler, which is now beat up.
I write essays and poetry - had one bad poem published in Dirt Rag.
I like longer rides, 30-50 miles.
I like dirt better than pavement, but enjoy both.
61 has turned into 67.
Rode in CO/UT for the first time last year. Enjoyed it.

Wow... Cool. Looks like I should catch up too.

My name is Zane, I'm 27, been riding DH since I was 17. Wow... just realized I hit the 10yr mark...

I grew up on a cattle ranch on the Nevada/Idaho border then moved to Utah for college.

Worked as a bike mechanic in Salt Lake City (summer/fall) and lifty at Park City Mountain Resort (winter/spring) for 4 years while I got my degree and then got married then moved back east (Washington DC) for Grad School.

Got my Masters and PhD in biomedical engineering and started working for the DOD doing stuff that didn't really sit well with my conscience...

Now, I work for the FDA as an orthopedic device reviewer (approve/reject approval of orthopedic implants and help companies design/conduct their clinical trials) and LOVE my job but still miss the west.

Happily married for 6 years with a 4 year old daughter and a 2 year old son. Life is good. I don't get out on the bike or snowboard nearly as much as I would like but do still wrench at the local bike shop a day or two a week to keep the head clear.

Hmm Thought I'd posted in this thread (literally) years ago.

Oh well here goes.....

I'm Dave, or at least the semi consciousness that inhabits me seems to think he's called "Dave"?
I'm 41 and I live in Wellington New Zealand.
I ride a Cove hummer SS.
I did also ride a motorbike but I sold that after I lost my license when caught on my 2010 Aprillia Tuono doing 238kmph down a country road..... Oops.

Since April I've owned and run a bike shop http://www.mudcycles.co.nz
Before that I was a bookbinder for 5 years then before that I have been;
Publisher/Newspaper manager for Fairfax, I set up and then ran multiple publications for them (a mix of weekly, monthly and annual publications).
Pre press production manager.
Mac Operator/photo artist/designer.
Print department Manager for a plastic's manufacturer.
Printer.
Surf rescue Patrol captain and rescue IRB driver. Biggest seas I've had to swim in to get a patient was an cyclone swell that was around the 8-8.5 meter mark. That's the most scary thing I've ever done!
Mountain bike/expedition guide.
I've ridden a mountain bike across the Himalaya's several times in the mid ninety's.
First time was in May 1995 then again in 96 and 97. Highest altitude was 18380ft.
The second most scary thing I've done was to be in Biratnagar right where and when the Maoist insurrection broke out (it wasn't considered a full civil war at that point).

2 years ago I started a small company importing craft beer from Europe, I was the sole south pacific distributor for Waldhaus, De Molen, Evil Twin, Panil, Freigeist Bierkultur and a few others.
I sold this business mid last year as I didn't have enough time to run this and the bike shop at the same time.
I love my beer and still work at a lot of beerfest's.
I also homebrew, the last beer I did was a chocolate porter that was aged in a Pinot Noir barrel for 3 months, I put this one on my handpull.
I'm also a keen skier/former racer and have a life pass to the local ski field.

Ok I guess that's enough for now. :)

Will here, I'm 28. I work on a commercial apple/pear/peach orchard and in the winter I manage controlled atmosphere refrigerated storage for apples and hops. I have degrees in Soil Science and HVAC/R.

As my wife would say, I'm always doing "bike sh!t," and its been that way long before I knew her, luckily. I have three steel 26" hardtails - two of them made by my buddy Oscar (Simple Bicycle Co). Both of my Simple's are singlespeed, one for DJ and the other for trails.

Beyond that, I'll sum it up by saying I love farting and I quit drinking before it ruined my life.

Like I mentioned... I haven't always. Been at the current job for about a year now. And haven't really posted on the monkey since starting. Guess that could be an indicator of job satisfaction right? For my own curiosity, I didn't realize you were in biologics. When I saw you talking about your cadaver labs (I've got some pretty gnarly stories about this) in the refugee thread? and what you are doing currently, I was going to chime in but figured the lower profile I kept the better. I can't tell you how enjoyable it is to work with companies in bringing something really cool (yet safe!) to market.

I'm also curious who Magura works for.... and which division of orthopedics... there has been some serious drama in the spine world lately.

story time!
Alrighty then. It's 1996 or 1997. I lived (with 2 other dirtbags) in an awesome apartment right on high street on OSU's campus. Right between the sorority sluts and bars. OSU vs. Michigan rivalry was nutty. Michigan was ranked number 1 and osu somewhere behind. Well OSU beat Michigan and in typical OSU fashion football fans went on a drunken rampage. We were all skateboarders so our chaos was no where near as grand of a scale.

OSU fans started burning ****, flipping cars over and generally rioting Greece style. Riot cops were called out. Across the street from us was a UDF (United Dairy Farmers, like a 7-11 with Ice Cream) There were like 40 riot cops outside that joint and they were tear gassing and shooting grenades everywhere. We were on our patio drinking beers watching the chaos ensue.

The cops told us to go inside, and my roommate said "go **** yourself." Drunkenly I yelled "protect the doughnuts!"

Then came the hand held grenade. landed on the patio. It immediately got throw back onto the street. One cop came over with one of the tear gas guns. Cracked it in half, loaded it. Looked up and winked then fired it straight into the house. We ran inside and grabbed it (they are hot btw) and tossed it back outside.

My roommate that threw it back outside got arrested.

For the next month or so anytime anyone flopped down on the couch everyone in the house's eyes would run and burn. it sucked.

Oh yeah, my car was one that got flipped and burned.
