What would you guys say the pro's of riding a hard tail are? I my self, only ride a hard tail and have wanted full suspension for a while... Are there a lot of pluses to hard tails?

In hell. Welcome!
Price, weight, simpler maintenance, less finicky setup, more efficient climbing and pedaling in general, price, weight, price.

So, full suspension basically only excels while going downhill and landing huge jumps. Right?
I'll add:

* Full suspension carries speed better over rough terrain at speed.
* Full suspension tends to be more forgiving when you make mistakes.

I've owned both, but hardtails suit my riding better at the moment.

My back likes full suspension bikes better than hardtails.
In rough technical terrain, my legs like the rear wheel traction of full suspension bikes better than hardatils. (as long as I do not ride a sus with bad pedal feedback)

Hardtails are more bouncy - which can be good or bad. I find that I can pop off rocks or small lips and catch more air than my friends on squishy bikes. I also lose momentum or get bounced off trail more.

You'll learn to ride better if you put your time in on a hardtail.
Everyone should start out on one.

Weight and price. I am faster on my FS on most climbs around my area. If it is a technical climb the HT has a hard time keeping the line and traction. The FS just makes it easier to keep a steady cadence on the same climb. If it a smoother climb then the HT is faster. Like they say, horses for courses, that's why I have both.

I find a hardtail is more fun for me as I really enjoy trying to chase people down on big bikes but it does limit line choices. I have just changed from my 6" hardtail to the 8" dually and yeah it's a bit slower through berms, you can't get as much speed out of transitions and they don't let you pump dips on trails very well but they are a lot easier to ride fast.

My hardtail is a piece of crap but damn it's fun to ride.

I have a 6" bike and a hardtail. The hardtail is way less maintenance and of course feels lighter on the trail. Its a different ride for sure, but can be a ton of fun. It accelerates quicker and really teaches you to pick better lines. I like my hardtail and definitely could have it as my only bike. At times I wish it was.

Two things I like to do when I feel my riding (DH) gets sloppy:

1. Do a few runs on the hardtail (Imperial). It really makes me focus on line choice and fluidity.
2. Do a few runs without a chain. It really makes me focus on carrying speed through corners.

I realize I'm in the wrong forum. Just sayin'.

i used to ride bmx, so i ride park and street on my DJ. its a little bit harder to get the bike around for spins, but i still got it!

there are a couple of soft tails that you can ride street and park on (killswitch it the only one that comes to mind ATM).. but generally, you do all that riding on a hardtail..

just another + for HTs
