Is everyone else as stoked for this WC season as I am?

Stevie came very close last year, and has steadily been improving and building confidence the last few seasons. I think next season is the year he establishes himself as top 3 dood. Gee's swollen head just might explode.

Consistency-wise nobody came close to those 3 in the last couple of seasons. And they surely will deliver next season. I can see some newcomers popping through here and there but the overall will be taken by by gwin, greg or gee.
This ^

I am always stoked to see an American on the top step, as much as I am not a fan of Gwin's boring personality, I do get stoked as ever to see him win and do as well as he has. But it is all the up-and-comer's that I really like to watch and cheer for. Super awesome to see both Stevie and Brook get first wins last season. Would love to see Blenki and Hill up there again. Bernard Kerr, Fairclough, Bryceland, numerous other guys.

And don't forget Cedric! What a badass, and more importantly super cool, nice, genuine guy. Being told he wouldn't walk for a 1 year and a half, to racing and finishing top 5 at Valpo. 8 MONTHS LATER? Arguably one of the most dangerous races anywhere. Actually being able to survive shattering your hip into 40 pieces, and then losing 2/3 of your blood is a feat in itself. Recovering the way he did is incredible. He will be just as competitive this season as he was last year. Not to mention he is older than probably 80%+ of the entire field. I don't understand why more people aren't talking about this. True legend.

Yeah I love to see cedrics runs too. Actually it was the only thing I really waited for the last two seasons when gwin was always winning. I hope he gets back to the form he had before the crash.

Hoping Taylor Vernon causes a spoil or two in the Junior category this season!
Loic Bruni's thoughts on the new rule on the Junior Category from Dirt interview:

On the topic of the junior category, what’s your opinion of this new UCI rule giving the juniors their own race?
This new rule needs to be tried but I don’t agree with it. The juniors can’t ride with their fastest friends like I did with Blenky and Cam. When we arrive on the World Cup circuit, we need to learn the lines and speed from the elite riders, that’s how we become as fast as we can, otherwise we progress slower, and the new juniors will ride with the girls, so they will ride like girls..!

I think he is right, Oh and Kranked I saw somewhere Rude is a Junior but racing Elite category.

Exactly my thoughts. The whole idea of the Jr. cat is to find the fastest riders to progress to pro's not to make it a participation prize cathegory. If it's harder for them so be it. Nothing worth having comes easy and jr's need to learn it.

part of the rule change for the juniors allows the previous years top 5 male jr's and top 3 female jr's to race elite. Rude was #2 overall jr last year, which allows him to opt to race elite.

[edit] rude was #40 overall in elite in 2012. [/edit]

those were the standings after the last world cup at hafjell. there were something like half a dozen more races were UCI points were given out in the remainder of the 2012 season.
You are totally correct, I just look at the World Cup Standings because thats what the UCI uses for top 20 protected Riders going into 2013 and since not every racer attends all the same other UCI sanctioned events its hard to compare.

I figured out the same thing when I noticed that each list had him listed as a diff # of points. The link you posted must've been for points gained at world cup events, the link I posted must be total points for all UCI sanctioned races for the season.

"Hey, we're the UCI. Let's make this confusing."

FYI there are 6 DH rounds this season. Plus World Champs.
Im def for a minimum of 7/8 rounds and a maximum of 10. Can be done with a proper scheduling plan where it wouldn't exponentially add to the expenditure for teams, tech and individuals.

...just a matter of finding additional resorts/promoters willing to pony up a buttload of money. No Problem™

I believe she will race in elite class..
I thought she was still under 18? Even if she is racing elite I bet she'll be a podium contender at some of the races.

I've seen her ride at a few BC Cups. She is insanely fast and I'd bet with the help of her new team she'll be even faster.

I won't discount Gwin until the first World Cup round. In the past Hill always had poor results in the races he did before world cups.
how is that a poor result? Gwin was only 0.16sec behind Bingelli. I am looking to root for U-S-A! U-S-A! in the WC this year, as there are fair number this season able to consistently finish top 20.

Bingelli isnt exactly world champ material is he ? I had never heard of him until today and I would guess he's probably not the fastest dude around
He's one of the fastest americans out there right now, probably second only to gwin. He was national champ last year, but he typically doesn't see much WC action, for reasons unknown. I think he's kinda midpack pro in the overall scheme of the WC.

Jeeezuus you people need to read better.
In the past, meaning other seasons. Sam Hill always showed up to races like sea otter and didn't break the to 10 and then killed it during the World Cup season. He never seemed to race at 100% unless it is a World Cup or other high stakes race. What I am saying is that Gwin was probably only going 90% and still almost won.

Logan is fast as hell obviously and not taking anything away from him, I think he is one of the most talented guys racing DH. But Bootleg is about as close as you get to home course for him, aside from Virgin Ut, (rampage). Looking forward to USA having some top caliber guys and gals. Way stoked for Cody Kelley on his finish in bootleg too, Him and Mitch are just a few who are moving up and fast IMO.

^This. Gwin has been known to sit out or take it easy even at WC races, knowing he had the season wrapped up. The WC season is short, need to do your best to be healthy especially going in to the first race. Logan is definitely fast though, and something is to be said about that 650b KHS.
