Tubeless vs Tubeless Ready

Varies by manufacturer as there's no real standard below UST (which has limits on how much air the system is allowed to lose over time). Sometimes you can go by the following:

Tubeless: No need for sealant (with proper rims - usually UST for mountain)
Tubeless ready: Requires sealant and proper rim setup

But many manufactures mix and match the terms. Best to check individual reccomendations.

Pretty sure tubeless is UST, as in meant to be ran on a tubeless rim. Tubeless ready can be used in a tubeless setup, but need sealant.

Either way, I'd run sealant. If you run UST rims, I've found that all the tires I've used (Maxxis) run fine with sealant, even if they aren't 'tubeless' tires. I wouldn't run tubeless without sealant, but that's just me.
