The guy who owns that site is a student in my 'intro to web' class. He kept asking me throughout the quarter how to fix stuff and why some items didn't work on his site but he would never show me the site in question.

Last week or so he told me that his site is about changing peoples thoughts/beliefs about being born gay. My only response was, "good luck with that."

yes that is his name.

the meta mention brings up a good point.

How can people be born w/ mental disorders but people can't be born gay? Or do they think mental disorders are not real?

That semi-coherant rant reminds me of something PSP might pen (not the anti-gay part, the rambling, crazy part).

Edit: Just clicked over to the "forum". The only people posting other than the admin are spambots lol

I'm guessing because it looks like a mans bum hole?

I'm sure it was a subconscious decision on his part. He's just consumed by the gay.

This is a debate I used to have on some other "Christian" forums years ago (until I realized these discussions werer a fools errand). I'd always ask those who suggested homosexuality is a "choice", when they made the choice to think women (vs. men) were attractive. I would press on asking at what age did they choose women to be more attractive than men......of course none could answer that.

It's sad, but almost on a daily basis I'm either shocked or embarassed or both to be even the slightest bit associated with what Christianity (mostly evangelical/pentacostal/reformed/restoration/fundamentalist/etc) is here in the US. It reinforces my decision to cease going to any sort of organized church..........

I'm disapointed that none of you posted on their FB page. would be funny to introduce the opposite group (some pro-gay site, I guess) to the anti gay page. then watch the fires burn.... :D

Hey Mr. Phylactery thanks for the article.........I keed, I keed..........

While interesting (as I digress) it doesn't really encapsulate where I'm at. I would more likely identify myself as a denominationaless follower of Jesus. Or more like a Christian Freegan......

Don't hesitate to holler if you need a good locust salad recipe........

Careful the slippery slope, similar thought would be where I might mark the beginning of my "journey" to atheism. True story.
Love that camel hair coat.....J the B would have been pimpin in that on the banks of the Jordan!!!

That has crossed my mind more than once, atheism. I've been on such a path to really cull out the actual historic aspects of the Bible, even to the point of realizing it's not "perfect" (which I'm totally cool with), that I think it would be hard for me to get there. For me there's too much historical evidence, but anyway. I'm more seriously disgusted with what Christianity has become in the US. Christianity in many 3rd world countries looks like it did in the early chapters of Acts from what I can gather. I would submit that in the past few decades, Christanity in the US has had less of an influence on the culture than the culture has influenced it.

But I digress............back to my locusts..........

While there are some tenants of Diesm I find interesting (human reason for one), I don’t hold the rejection of “all” organized religion and their Texts. Christianity as it was in the first few chapters of Acts was a pretty cool thing. In the past 2000 years we have deviated greatly from that first way of following Jesus. I’d say all versions of Christianity have done that, some more than others. My main beef with dispensational evangelicals is the complete lack of context (historical and otherwise) they give the Bible…..just pick and choose what suits their predetermined understanding.

I’m probably closer to being a Christian Universalist than a Diest.

Have you seen From Jesus to Christ? Fascinating documentary that delves into some of the specific changes and human decisions that were made early on that shaped the Church. In particular the followers of the Gospel of Thomas focused far more on what Jesus said as opposed to what he did (or had done to him). It was much more focused on "being good to one another" instead of fire and brimstone.

Of course those followers were all massacred in true Christian fashion...

That's just it, Jesus speaks very little about "fire and brimstone" and when He does it's as a present reality vs. some sort of eternal destination. When He get's fired up and pi$$ed off is at the religious authorities of the day that were taking advantage of the poor. Only once in the Gospels does Jesus refer to anyone being in an literal eternal "hell" (vs. a present reality) and that was the parable of the rich man who didn't take care of the leper outside his house (Luke 16). Jesus made no mention that the rich man was in hell becasue he didn't have the correct beliefs / theology.

Thanks for the link, I'll watch that at lunch. But yeah that's my main problem, so much has been changed/altered from the Text (and the context of the Text) that I'm skeptical of just about anything with a "Christian" label on it as to how accurate it is........

I attempted to watch the History Channel's show "The Bible", but got tired of arguing with the TV......so I had to shut it off.
