multiple reasons:
-while i dont have concrete evidence that the performance is not as good as hard ano coating, ive noticed that lower end forks use chrome stanchion tubes.. so, im assuming that chrome isnt as good of a choice as hard ano.. with everyone else's DH forks being some form of hard ano i just dont understand why marz (or anyone for that matter) does chrome still..
-i absolutely hate the look of chrome.
-chroming these adds more weight than hard ano would.
-from what i understand, chroming things isnt the greatest for the environment
-did i mention i hate the look of chrome? :D

my fork is also going to cost me more than what i paid for my frame.. so since its the most expensive part on my bike (same as well on my DJ), i want something that i really like. :thumb:

.... its not chrome its nickel plating, has a lot more pores than ano and holds more oil in the coating making it more slick... fox had there top guys on it before kashima

Your face.
Just because its shiny silver, doesn't mean its chrome. Marzocchi uses something that makes their forks stupidly smooth. Try a 888, then try a 40. World of difference, especially over time without maintenance.

Other than looks, you have no worries.

Uh, it's pretty well documented that Ni coating (which it is, not chrome) is a lot harder than anno-ed aluminum. Plus Saying "everyone else does blah" when they are all inferior to Zoke in that respect is not doing much to help your cause. You can hate on zoke for a lot of things, but the smoothness of their forks is not one of them. Although truth be told that's more related to their high bushing tolerance and seals and not the stanchion coating, but whatever.

P.S. Weight?!?! Are you serious? You're worried about the weight of a coating that's a few microns thick??

P.P.S. I wonder if they actually made a decent rebound needle for that new shock. Man, so many good options now a days if these new products are even better than their old stuff.

I'm loving the looks of that fork! It looks nice and simplistic, keen to hear more info as to what all the knobz do and what the projected weight will be...

Everyones stepping it up can only be a good thing.

Digging the old school simple look on the lowers, black, big M yeah like new but old 888s Kiss works for me.

Digg the shock too, now if only they would do a Ti spring as std like the fork that would be rad dude.

DVO, XFus, Big M, dam choices choices

I notice they still don't mention anything about improvements to the mid-valve (rebound piston and stacks) that was the biggest problem with the current model. Also "shim stack kits 'should' be available"...this is pure humour for anyone that remembers the last model promises.

Yeah, first they have to deliver before I believe anything. But if it works it may be a good alternative. Also Air-shocks should be obsolete for dh with a 500g coil-shock

It's mostly the weight comments that make me mad. Anyone worried about grams here and there don't deserve to be riding DH bikes.

Edit: Whoa, just realized that steerer is tapered. I dislike that as well. Too trendy.
Options include both tapered and straight

The boxxer has new graphics this year!

I love this redesign. The weight is crazy. A coil spring fork with weight that low...and actual fork seals...could be cool. Glad they got ride of the M arch. Hollow crowns are a great idea to save weight. I love the regular axle system. Should be a robust, reliable fork. I don't have a lot of time on my CR damper, but it looks to be pretty much the same with less adjustments.

FWIW the low end forks with chrome stanchions are usually steel. As stated, these are Ni coated alloy. Seems like people go back and forth as to which are actually smoother, but I'm sure we'll see a black stanchioned lower end CR and C2R2 as well. I will say that my CR is the smoothest fork I've felt so far, but I haven't tried a kashima nor nickel fork yet.

I wonder if 2013-2014 will be like 2004 all over again. Very exciting. My dream is just for people to stop buying those crappy boxxers.

i discount the BOS, because 1)they're difficult to impossible to get in the states and 2)zero factory support at the races or difficult warranty/service requests.
Still an option but? and we're not all in America;)

Ha Ha.

What about the Dorado? I love mine. Geminik has them for a great price.
Not sure if the list is new forks or what. Any changes to the Dorado?

Wasn't the general consensus that the black Marz stanchions were slipperier than the nickel ones? I'm sure there's not much in it anyway. I have seen 5year + old Nickel Marz stanchions flaking a bit. They do seem more resistant to gouging though.

Now after reading about the separating piston thingy, I'm having scary flashbacks to the ATA floating thingy. Hope there's not flaws in the first run of them.
