Attitash is awesome; what are you imbibing. Skipp Killy and Snow for Attitash for damn sure.
I get bored there (attitash), it seems small and the trails seem on the shorter side to me. lift didnt move super fast with the folks there for the slide. the races held there were awesome!! i dig killington over attiash. Plus for Attitash it is in a great area and has a lot of other stuff to offer. HB i do agree with you on attitash over mt. snow though, just me imbibing that sunday river is nearby and awesomer :homer:

So Bromont has two separate lifts/areas as far as I can tell, du Village and du Lac. The du lac one only seems to be open on weekends, but most of the black trails are on the Village side anyway, which is open in the week, I think. Am I right there?

From what I can make out the World Cup track is on the Lac side though, is that right?
You can ride most of the WC Course even when the lift is closed. You can traverse back to the Village side.

This. You can ride the first half of it and pretty much roll back to the main chair lift. Even if you go to the bottom, it isn't too horrible of a hike back up the fire road.

There is a newish trail on the world cup side too. Lots of berms. You can ride it from from the Village lift and it will curl all the way around the hill and down to the World Cup side. Great warm up run if you don't feel like going down arm-pump-alley (trail 7).

So I made it a point to visit as many area bike parks as possible in 2012, I live in upstate New York. I have lived in Vancouver where I rode whistler regularly. I prefer natural trails but have no problem with jump lines so here is how I would rank the region.

Plattekill- such a diversity of natural, gnarly trails, but enough mixture my gf has a blast.
Sunday river- a mixture of great technical trails, plus a few jump lines, beautiful scenery.
Whiteface: gnarly, natural terrain, and long runs. Not much variety though- dirt jumps nearby
Mountain creek: again a Great mixture of everything, I did break 3 ribs here though
Killington: good variety, can string together some long runs, seems to be putting in quality effort on trails
Highland: I don't consider this a downhill park, plenty of fun with jump lines, but slow and long lines
Attitash: natural falling trails but can string together some good trails. Pirate mike showed us around.
Jiminy: good steep terrain similar to plattekill, left side has some fun longer runs and nice droops
Mt snow: great place for beginners, I got bored here with easy runs and lack of variety
Burke: dh bike not necessary, bring an am bike to ride kingdom and you can use it at Burke for some fun but short runs.

Based on reviews I will definitely hit up bromont and sugarbush this summer.

So, a plan has formed.

5 weeks, June 14 to July 17:

14-16 Sugarbush (race)
17-20 Bromont
21-23 MSA
24-26 Attitash
27-30 Windham (race)
1-3 Mountain Creek
4 Blue Mountain
5-7 Platekill (race)
8-9 Whiteface
10-11 Killington
12 Sunday River
13 Burke
14 Jiminy Peak
15-17 Highland

Phew!

Rough route: http://goo.gl/yqur0 (2,516 miles)

One possible spanner in the works is a possible lift closure at MSA in "early summer" - I've emailed them for more details.

Exact dates might vary a bit, and we might drop a place or two out, but that order makes sense geographically, and works with regards to each place's opening schedule.

Holy hell. You are squeezing a ton of riding into that timeframe. Sounds like an epic trip. I'm sure myself and plenty other guys that post on here will run into you at more than one of your stops. I'd love to have a beer and hear how the trip is going. Safe travels and riding.

Yeah I'm not expecting us to want to ride every day really, the places that we're spending more than 1 day at will allow us to have a non-riding break if we want to rest up and chill for a day. And races are relatively low-intensity because you don't get that many runs in, so they'll kinda be a rest, of sorts...

Might have to drop one of Sunday River/Burke/Jiminy Peak (but which one... SR?) in the final days, and might skip Blue Mountain. See how we feel!

I'd skip Burke.
DH bikes are TOO BIG to ride there.
If you want to be in that area of VT, go to Sugarbush.
The new trails there are... good for bigger bikes!

Wow, amazing trip. Of SR/Burke/Jiminy:

I haven't been personally, but I hear SR is more ENDURO! friendly than it is big bike friendly. Not sure if that has changed or not.

Burke has more "flow" trails than it does real DH. A DHer would be disappointed there, but somebody who likes to ride flow trails will not.

Jiminy is a fun place to go, all natural, and who knows the extent of trail building this year. Could be awesome or terrible. Adventure! A few years ago the guys were doing really good work.

Lots of people ride Burke on DH bikes. I ride it on anything from my M9 to a Commencal DJ bike. Both are fun just in different ways.

SR is definitely on my list this year. I have some friends that are "slaphead mofos" so I need to get up there and see what they've done with the place. I'm only offering what I know because if you were used to European mega resorts and then went to someplace that was more flat than steep and less built than natural, you'd be a little let down. For all i know, Killington may have invested thousands into building super nice courses...but last time I went I was sorely disappointed I made the three hour trip from Boston, when I could have spent another hour in the car for plattekill/Mt creek/etc. There was a really sweet video from SR posted on here about a year ago.

Bromont has sweet water park too and MSA has the waterfalls and go kart. Easy day wasted there!

Yup, check out Sugarbush when you are in Vermont. Trails have 1700' vertical, so long runs, and the lift is really fast. A bunch of new trails last year, now with a good mix of excavated bike park trails, and plenty of steep natural stuff.

Thanks. We're already going to sugarbush, it's out first stop. Of course we can always return later if its awesome. MSA main lift is shut while we're out there, so we'll probably scrub that from the schedule and do the race at Mt Snow instead.

So so far we've done the ESC at Sugarbush which was a great track and event, and a few days riding the trails at Bromont, which definitely haven't disappointed. Off to Mt Snow on Friday for the next ESC race. Any monkeys about? Feel free to add me on Facebook - www.facebook.com/downhiller

Ah nice. I was pretty pleased that I managed to come down before it really started raining - hard luck ;-) Until you Pros came down I somehow had fastest time of the day!

Just finished at Bromont now, hands are shredded. Only one (stupid, small) crash somehow too.

See you at Snow.

At Mountain Creek today & tomorrow. Jeepers is it hot and humid though, I think I'm going to expire before the day's out!

Anyone have any good restaurant/bar recommendations within half an hour? I suppose we're unlikely to find any "lively" nightlife around here...?

12 runs done, awesome day. Love the bigger drops and jumps. The rocky trails are pretty savage, much mor puncture-prone than Bromont rocks, but somehow seem to have escaped without one today.

if you drive a bit farther you can get some good eatin. theres a great steakhouse/bar about 30-40mins from the mtn in Morristown/Morris Plains

I guess i'm a country bumpkin now here in Virginia. But i used to live in manhattan and grew up 30mins from MCBP, to the unfamiliar visitor or international tourist, nyc is not a place you can just "pop on over". Distance wise it may not seem far but traffic beware. And parking is a pain in the ass.

Trumpore's said they drove to some place in 30 minutes, parked and hopped a train into times Square in an hour's time. You calling a Trumpore a liar.... :clue:
