Gents.

I have an older style DENON Reciever that I am trying to set up with an HDMI and LAN output Blue Ray Player to a T.V that takes HDMI and Composite.

Right now I am running the audio of my video box to my Reciever, and the video via composite to the T.V. Works perfect.
I have my Blu Ray Player running via HDMI to the T.V. In order to watch the Blu Ray I have to select HDMI on the T.V and shut down my Reciever.

The question is, how do I get my Blu Ray Player to run through my DENON DVD Channel. It has to be possible.

Thanks

Chris

I must be missing something. Does the Denon have HDMI out to the TV or an input from the DVD/BluRay?

My HDMI channels on my receiver died, so mine are all RCA from DVD, Wii, cable box to receiver then to the TV.

what model receiver? i think that certain models with hdmi throughput its setup as a module that can be replaced
I fixed it using some caps I bought at Radio Shack.

Not my video.

<edit> The 606 used a daughter board, my buddy had to replace his 707.

Then just use the RCA output of the BluRay to the DVD input of the receiver, then the DVD output of the receiver to the TV.

There are no other inputs on the TV at all? You really don't want to use composite it flat out sucks but then again so do most Denon Receivers :thumb:

The only outputs on the Blu Ray player are HDMI and LAN.
The outputs on the T.V. are component.
There must be a solution to this, I just cant figure it out.

There isn't a digital optical out? That's what I am running from my blu-ray to my Onkyo. It works good.

My Digital T.V. Receiver has an optical out, plus S-Video. And my DENON has those as well.

BLU Ray is a Philips BDP2900 (Only HDMI and LAN) . T.V is an LG 42LS3450.

My Digital Reciever has Component, SVideo and optical out. (The Lan Cable comes from my Router)

I know this is possible, ive been scratching my head about it for a day.

This was my first thought, there HAS to be an optical out on the Blu-Ray player... Even my cheap, almost 10 year old $70 DVD player has an optical out.

Your TV might also have an optical out, which means you can do Blu-Ray -> TV -> Receiver, but you might be stuck with only 2-channel sound?

Then just use the RCA output of the BluRay to the DVD input of the receiver, then the DVD output of the receiver to the TV.
This. Your Blu Ray player has digital coaxial output, which the receiver should recognize?

teh manual said:
Digital output: 0.5 Vp-p (75 ohm)
Coaxial
edit: Found it, yes, your receiver has a Coax Digital Input:

edit 2: Just reread what JD wrote, and I wouldn't even bother with the DVD Output of the Receiver going to the TV. Just do this:

Video: HDMI from Blu Ray to the TV
Audio: Coax Digital from Blu Ray to the Receiver

Done.

Can I just use a regular RCA Cable for that? What input would I select on the Reciever?

That will work, you should have an input mode button on that unit I think, it will display on the screen digital or analogue.

I think my issue has to do with having the audio output of my digital receiver going to the T.V audio on the receiver. I wonder if I also have to make a selection in the Blu Ray Audio. Has to be something simple.

I don't know much about BluRay stuff but unless you can output something your old receiver can decode you won't get anything coming out of the speakers.

Have a look in the DVD player menu to see if you can change the audio output, you may have to run the audio out from the TV back to the amp and put up with PL2 or stereo output.

You should still be able to find a better solution than that, however it is a 10yo amp.

I can for sure get the volume off the T.V to output through the amp. You may be right, I never even thought of that. Ill do a bit of research.

no, you need to use a 75ohm cable to get any sort of digital audio passing through it. you may get lucky using a basic rca cable but it would be intermittent at best.
your receiver has a digital coax in and your BD player has a coax out. there is no reason to hook anything up to the tv other then the HDMI from the BD player. you might need to set the BD player's audio output up via the OSD to get all the supported digital formats and you might also have to setup the digital input on the receiver. this is typically done by hooking up a composite cable from the "monitor out" to the tv to properly setup your system.
the LAN connection has nothing to do with audio/video playback. youre making it moar difficult then it needs to be

Listen to this man then, he knows more than me, I stopped dicking around with that stuff when my parents video store closed, I was running a CRT telly til six months ago haha!
