I don't care for take out. Or curbside catering. I like to sit down and eat. If I have to fight off Pigeons and the Homeless to eat my meal it doesn't matter how good it is.

I agree with you although the food from the street meat truck on Alexander St used to taste pretty damn good at 2am on a Fri or Sat night. It may have been due to all the alcohol that I had consumed before hand though...

Quiero Apepas.

This truck is local and I recently tried it on a strong recommendation. SO good.
Anyone in Denver should try them if they see the truck, and their website has a calendar helps you find them in / around the city.

ps: I'd pay $3 to watch jdcamb fight pigeons and homeless, if at the same time.

My problem is cleanliness. Most trucks are not up to the standards that a brick and mortar joint is. Most municipality's are not prepared to supervise or inspect mobile kitchens.

UberSausage too. They're usually at Prost, half the reason I go there so often.

My office recently started having the Crazy Good food truck come twice a week. It's only Medium Good though.

I tend to agree but don't kid yourself about the cleanliness of brick and mortar joints.

And at least in SF, the prep is done off-site in a permitted commercial kitchen. The trucks are pretty controversial in some places and as a result they are under more of a microscope.

Also: Fried macaroni and cheese!

High end, artisan food trucks are all the rage here in the bay.

Every few weeks two or three of them pull up to the office building next to mine. There is a big grass field with trees and a fountain. Everyone brings blankets and it's picnic time!

Not a bum or flying rat in sight.

No complaints here.

There is a taco truck in buffalo that is out of this world good. I have them coming to my work parking lot every other Monday for lunch :D

I agree that it does suck at times if you have to eat in your car(tacos can be messy) or the weather is shiznitty.

I went to the Poutine truck today and the women in front of me asked for a order with out the cheese or gravy. She cancelled her order when they told her they were out of diet Coke.

It's unfortunate that something large didn't magically fall from the sky and land on her head at that exact moment.

I can think of at least three food trucks here locally that are converted school/transit buses. Half the bus is kitchen and half is indoor seating. They kick ass, in fact, I ate at one today. My order was 6 tacos - 3 asada, 2 adobada, 1 chicharrones. The grilled onions and Serrano peppers are a tasty treat!

We just shut down and dismantled a Stefano Ferrara Napoli oven here in NY to be shipped to Oakland CA. It will be rebuilt into a truck is the plan. The Dome smelled awesome. Phugging thing is 100 years old.

So when I was hired to ship this oven. I was a bit short handed. I went to Labor Ready and hired this
Russian gentleman. He was awesome! While we were taking this thing apart, he came up with a system for marking the bricks with a sharpie and made a simple map of were the bricks came from.

That has earned him a trip to SF.

Nice... should make it WAY easier to re-assemble. We are using the same system to pull apart R-717 compressors and re-build them.

To keep it on subject, lunch today was 3 asada and 3 adobada tacos. The salsa verde kicks ass!

SoCal is the epicenter of food trucks. More of them here than you can shake a stick at.
It all started with the "traditional" mexican food trucks but LA/SoCal is where the new "gourmet" trend started as well. I believe it was the Kalbi taco truck with the inventive asian pork and beef tacos. Now you can get anything from bacon wrapped dates to wood fired pizza or ramen and nori topped hot dogs. We have a few flying rats to fend off but not many homeless. We shipped them all off to NorCal. ;)

All of that sounds awesome, indoor seating would be great for this area in the fall winter and spring

There are a few bars around here that don't have their own kitchen, but instead just have a different food truck every day of the week and welcome you to bring food in. It's a pretty great setup.
